Restoring a Life After Seven Years of Wrong Love novel Chapter 136

The two of them walked into the lobby.

The marriage registration counter was practically empty, but the divorce counter had a long line.

They stood at the back of the queue.

The couples in line ahead of them were either red in the face arguing over assets, or glaring at each other like blood enemies.

Yvette and Jabez were the first pair to look this peaceful.

By ten o'clock, they finally reached the window.

The clerk looked up and paused.

They were a remarkably gorgeous couple, looking for all the world like a match made in heaven.

"Hello. Please have a seat. I'll need your IDs, household registers, and original marriage certificates to verify your identities and confirm you are here in person."

Yvette and Jabez handed over their documents and the divorce agreement.

"Are both parties proceeding with this divorce voluntarily, without coercion or deception? There's no domestic violence or forced signing involved?"

"No."

"No."

"Do you have any children?" the clerk continued.

"No," Jabez answered. Just as Yvette was about to turn and look at him, she spoke, halting her movement.

"No."

Her voice was completely steady. Jabez didn't look at her.

"Alright." The clerk's fingers flew across the keyboard. "There is a mandatory cooling-off period of thirty days. If both parties do not return after the thirty days, the divorce application will be automatically canceled."

"Understood, thank you," Yvette said, taking her documents back from the counter and walking away.

Jabez trailed a few steps behind her.

The woman walking ahead of him had a light, relaxed gait. There was absolutely no trace of the sorrow or pain that usually accompanied a divorce.

Yvette stood outside the building, looking up at the sky and taking a deep breath. The massive weight on her chest was finally gone.
