Restoring a Life After Seven Years of Wrong Love novel Chapter 250

"God forbid something goes wrong, and she doesn't even get to say goodbye..."

"Mom, don't talk like that." Jabez's voice was a blade of ice, his expression thoroughly unreadable.

"Jabez, just call her. Grandma wants to see her," Simon urged quietly.

Jabez shot his brother a venomous glare before pulling out his phone and dialing Yvette's number.

*"The subscriber you have dialed is powered off. Please try again later..."*

Jabez frowned deeply and hit redial.

The same robotic voice echoed through the receiver.

"You can't get through?" Wynne asked, noting the dark shift in his expression.

That made no sense. Even if Yvette had blocked Wynne out of spite, she had been desperately in love with Jabez for years. There was no way she would have blocked him.

"Let me try."

Wynne pulled out her phone and dialed the number. Powered off.

Jabez stared down at the screen for a brief second before pulling up Charlotte's contact and hitting dial.

Still making her way through the terminal, Charlotte saw the caller ID and stared at her screen in sheer disbelief.

She waited until the call was milliseconds away from going to voicemail before answering.

"Well, to what do I owe the pleasure of the almighty Mr. Shelby's call?"

"Where is Yvette?" Jabez completely ignored her sarcasm.

"None of your damn business!" Charlotte snapped instantly. "Who do you think you are, the Emperor? You think you can just bark orders at people?"

"Cut the crap! The old lady is in the ICU. Tell her to get here right now."

Hearing his arrogant, demanding tone, Charlotte's temper practically blew the roof off the terminal.

She opened her mouth to scream back at him, only to realize he had already hung up.

"That son of a bitch."

Charlotte continued to mutter vicious curses about Jabez under her breath, but her feet carried her in a sharp U-turn back toward the gates.
