“Are you serious?” Quade looked at Yvette, highly suspicious. But seeing the absolute calm on her face, he found it hard to believe.

She was actually willing to give up the Senior Restorer title just to shadow the guy who had publicly humiliated her?

He glanced over at Matthew, who gave a slight nod.

Quade slowly set his tools back down on the table, thinking it over for a few seconds. “Fine. You shadow me.”

He wanted to see for himself if she really possessed the skills Mr. Sutton claimed she had.

If she proved to be genuinely talented, he would personally apologize to her.

But if she turned out to be nothing more than a pretty face... well, he’d find a way to get her thrown out of the building.

“Alright, everyone back to work,” Matthew instructed before turning and leaving the studio.

Yvette walked over to Quade’s workstation, her demeanor entirely respectful. “Mr. Lomax, what would you like me to start on?”

It’s hard to stay angry at someone who is being perfectly polite. Her attitude made it impossible for Quade to throw a tantrum, so he maintained a stern expression. “Go make a batch of archival paste.”

In art restoration, natural paste was the absolute foundational adhesive.

“Sure thing.” Yvette scanned the studio but couldn't immediately locate the supplies.

Quade, who had been watching her like a hawk, quickly walked over and gave her a brief tour of where the materials were stored.

“Thank you,” Yvette said sincerely.

Between her genuine tone and her stunning, luminous features, Quade suddenly felt his face flush hot.

“Y-you're welcome,” he stammered, before awkwardly power-walking away.

Yvette blinked. Was he actually blushing?

As Trent Sterling walked past the studio, he caught a glimpse of Yvette through the glass. He stopped, changed direction, and walked inside.

She was entirely focused on her task, using a smooth wooden dowel to stir the mixture, and didn't notice him.

Trent tapped Quade on the shoulder. “Is she new?”

“How was your first morning? Did Quade give you a hard time?” Charlotte asked, clearly concerned.

“Not at all,” Yvette shook her head. “He’s actually not a bad guy, he just has a strong moral objection to nepotism.”

“If you run into any issues, you come straight to me or Charlotte,” Matthew said with a warm smile.

“You guys are underestimating me,” Yvette teased, lifting her chin. “Don't forget, I used to be the Chief Secretary for the Shelby Group. Handling a little office politics is a walk in the park for me.”

The three of them walked out together.

“Willow booked a practical test here for tomorrow,” Matthew mentioned, a hint of worry in his eyes.

He was afraid the news might upset Yvette, given that Willow was the other woman who had destroyed her marriage.

“Let her come. I’ve been dying to see what she's really made of,” Charlotte sneered. “Don't worry, Yvette. I’ll make sure to put her in her place tomorrow.”

“I’m actually quite curious to see how much real talent Willow picked up while studying abroad,” Yvette murmured, her gaze turning sharp.
