Watching the entire scene unfold, Yvette's eyes blazed with fury.

She recognized Mr. Lloyd. He used to be one of her grandfather's students.

She didn't know exactly what he had done, but her usually even-tempered grandfather had completely cut him off.

He was banned from ever stepping foot in the Yeats household again, and eventually transitioned into business.

Though she was young at the time, she knew that to be permanently exiled, he must have crossed a severe red line.

As a former student, he didn't even have the basic decency to show her uncle any respect!

A black Maybach pulled up nearby.

The previously arrogant Mr. Lloyd scrambled forward, practically bowing to Jabez and Willow.

"Mr. Shelby, Ms. Huxley, right this way, please! I've been waiting for you."

"You didn't have to go out of your way," Willow said with fake modesty, though she clearly felt she deserved the royal treatment.

The three of them walked inside.

Yvette's eyes turned icy. She looked away and drove straight to the Yeats family estate.

Walking inside, she saw her uncle slumped defeatedly on the couch. Though only in his forties, gray was already creeping into his temples.

Hearing her come in, he looked up and forced a smile.

"You're back. How have you been?"

Yvette walked over, pulled a bank card from her purse, and handed it to him. "Uncle Lance, there's five million dollars on this card. Use it."

"Absolutely not. I can't take your money," Lance refused, his face hardening.

"Take it. I don't really have anything to spend it on right now. Just consider it living expenses for my mom." Yvette shoved the card into his pocket without giving him a choice.

"Nonsense! She's my sister! It's my duty to take care of her when she's struggling."

"Uncle Lance, I know things are hard right now. This is just my way of helping. Please, just take it."

She had fallen severely ill, and the doctors said she had lost the will to live.

It was Lance's desperate pleading that finally pulled her back from the brink.

Since then, she had remained incredibly frail. Even a minor cold could be catastrophic for her body.

"Mom."

Winifred turned, a faint smile touching her lips. "You're here."

"How are you feeling, Mom?"

"I'm fine. How are you?" Winifred pulled Yvette down to sit on the couch. "How are things with Jabez?"

"We're doing great," Yvette replied with a smile.

"I know things are hard for you in the Shelby family. Your mother-in-law doesn't like you, and Jabez never visits us. The harder things get, the more you need to secure your own future."

"You need to have a baby with Jabez. Our family's situation isn't looking good. If you have his child, your position in the Shelby family will be unshakeable. Even if the Yeats family goes under, you won't have to worry about your future."
