One week later.
Inside the conference room at the Azure Atelier.
“Solstice Auctions has officially released their announcement today, which I’m sure you’ve all seen. My thoughts are that we should all actively participate. Even if we don’t place, it’s a great opportunity to get out there, see the industry standard, and network.”
The team murmured in unison, completely agreeing.
“I’m going to pass out the registration materials now. Please fill them out, and I’ll submit them all together shortly.”
Matthew unsealed the large folder and passed the documents down the table.
Once everyone had filled out their forms, the stack made its way back to Matthew.
“We’ll go together,” Matthew said, his gaze landing specifically on Yvette.
“Alright,” she nodded.
During her intense period of refining her techniques, everyone at the studio had witnessed Yvette’s terrifyingly high skill level, earning their absolute respect.
When Matthew suggested going with her, no one batted an eye.
The two drove over to Solstice Auctions.
“This is my first time actually visiting Solstice Auctions,” Yvette murmured in awe, looking up at the grand entrance.
It truly lived up to its reputation as Kingsbrook's premier auction house. The architecture was resplendent, and word had it that the exhibits inside were exclusively top-tier.
“Once the competition is over, you’ll be coming here quite often,” Matthew teased with a gentle smile.
Yvette caught his meaning and replied modestly, “I certainly hope so.”
They walked inside.
The industry’s top restorers were milling about. Given Matthew's status as the son of the legendary Professor Crispin and the head of the Azure Atelier, his arrival instantly drew attention. People immediately began approaching him to chat.
Seeing this, Yvette excused herself. “I’ll go hand in the paperwork first.”
Matthew nodded.
She had barely taken two steps when she spotted Jabez and Willow standing not too far away. They looked like a picture-perfect power couple.
“Mr. Shelby, your girlfriend earned a doctorate from a top overseas institution at such a young age. I have no doubt she’ll become a leading figure in the industry.”
She took a nasty fall, and he just stood there watching coldly, unwilling to even offer a hand.
Her heart turned to ash.
Matthew, who was mid-conversation, heard the commotion. He immediately held up a hand to excuse himself and strode rapidly toward Yvette.
He crouched down in front of her, carefully inspecting the wound, his voice laced with concern. “Are you okay?”
Yvette shook her head. Gripping Matthew’s arm with one hand, she tried to pull herself up.
But the moment she put weight on it, a fiery, stinging pain shot through her knee.
Her brow furrowed deeper.
Mr. Clark hurried over. “I’ll have someone bring a first-aid kit right away. You two can take a seat on the sofa over there for now.”
“Please have them hurry, Mr. Clark,” Matthew replied firmly, bypassing pleasantries since he’d dealt with the man before.
Mr. Clark nodded and quickly gestured for a staff member to fetch the supplies.
