still have a long way to go.” I said.

“We all do.” He said and he leaned back slightly.

“And when you’re ready to expand the garage, I’ll help however I can.” He added and I smiled.

“You don’t have to do that.” I said.

“I know.” He said.

“You already do enough.” I said and his expression turned serious.

“Paige.” He said.

“What?” I asked.

“We’re a team.” He said.

Something warm settled in my chest. A team. Nobody had ever said that to me before. Not in a

way that actually felt real.

After dinner we wandered down toward the water. The lake reflected the moonlight like polished

glass.

Several couples walked nearby, but most of the shoreline remained quiet and Jace took my hand

as we walked.

Every now and then our shoulders brushed together. Simple moments. Comfortable moments.

The kind that somehow felt more intimate than grand gestures ever could.

Music drifted from the restaurant patio and Jace glanced toward it and then back at me.

“Dance with me.” He said and I laughed.

“Out here?” I asked.

“Why not?” He asked.

“We’re beside motorcycles and a lake.” I said.

“Exactly.” He said so I shook my head.

“You’re ridiculous.” I said.

“Still dancing with me?” He asked and I smiled.

“Yeah.” I said so he pulled me closer.

The music was distant, but it didn’t matter. His hand rested at my waist while mine settled against his shoulder. We moved slowly beneath the stars and the world seemed quieter than usual. Smaller somehow.

As though everything outside that moment had temporarily disappeared and I rested my head against his chest. His heartbeat was steady beneath my ear.

“I love this.” I said and his voice rumbled softly above me.

“Me too.” He said and we stayed like that for a long time. Talking, laughing and sharing small dreams and quiet hopes.

Eventually we wandered farther along the shoreline until we found ourselves alone. The lake

stretched endlessly beside us.

The night air carried the scent of water and summer grass and Jace pulled me gently into his arms so I wrapped mine around his neck.

The kiss that followed was slow and tender. Full of affection. Full of trust. Full of everything we’d been building together.

For a long while the rest of the world faded away and we shared a private moment beneath the

stars, wrapped in each other’s arms and enjoying the rare gift of complete peace.

We noticed that we had walked far enough away from the restaurant that there was no one else

around except trees and silence along the waterline.

Jace grabbed my hand and he twirled me around once before I faced him again and he pulled me

closer to his chest.

He leaned down and started kissing me as I wrapped my arms around his neck and he lifted me up so I could wrap my legs around his waist.

He gently pushed me up toward a treetrunk and he kissed me even more and getting more

aroused as we continued.

“Are you sure you want to do this here?” I asked.

“Hell yeah.” He said as he hiked up my short skirt and he undid his pants as he pushed my panties

to the side.

He pushed himself inside of me and I grabbed onto his back even harder as he started slowly

pushing himself inside of me.

Jace grabbed the treetrunk as he started pushing a little harder into me and he started kissing me

more passionately.

Char

I felt my skin heating up and I started to feel myself getting closer until I finally fell over the edge of

my orgasm and the spasms lasted a lot longer than usual. And after a couple more seconds Jace Round his release inside of me.

So he leaned his face into my neck while catching his breath and I rested my head on top of his.

Later, when we finally returned to our motorcycles, neither of us seemed eager for the night to end.

The ride back felt different. Comfortable and hopeful. Like we were heading toward something instead of simply running from problems.

When we pulled into the clubhouse parking lot, I climbed off the motorcycle and removed my

helmet and I was still smiling while Jace noticed.

“What?” Jace asked.

“Nothing.” I said.
