Monday morning arrived before the sun, and the first thing I noticed when I opened my eyes was the warmth of Jace beside me..

For several seconds, I stayed beneath the blankets and listened to the quiet clubhouse around us.

Nobody was shouting. No phones were ringing. No motorcycles were starting outside.

The world felt strangely peaceful.

I turned my head and watched Jace sleeping, because after everything we had survived, moments like this felt precious.

His eyes opened a few seconds later.

“Why are you staring at me?” He asked and I smiled.

“Because you’re cute when you’re asleep.” I said.

“That’s disappointing.” He said and I laughed.

“Why?” I asked.

“I was hoping you’d say handsome.” He said.

“You’re cute.” I said.

“That’s worse.” He said and I laughed again as I climbed out of bed.

“You’ve got work to do.” I said.

“So do you.” He said.

I grabbed my clothes and headed toward the bathroom and Jace followed me.

We showered together while the hot water washed away the last traces of sleep and although we were both in a hurry, we still managed to steal a few quiet moments together before the day started.

Afterward, we brushed our teeth side by side while I tried to fix my hair in the mirror while Jace watched

“You’ve got toothpaste on your cheek.” He said and I wiped the wrong side.

“Here?” I asked.

“No.” He said so I wiped again.

“Here?” I asked and he laughed.

“Other side.” He said and I finally found it.

“I knew that.” I said.

Of course.” He said so I threw a towel at him and he caught it.

“You’ve become violent.” He said.

We dressed quickly, grabbed coffee and headed downstairs.

The clubhouse was already beginning to wake and Mason was in the kitchen making breakfast while Derek was checking something on his phone.

“Morning.” Mason called.

“Morning.” I said as he looked at me.

“Big day.” He said.

“Why?” I asked.

“Your business is officially one of us now.” He said and I smiled.

“I suppose it is.” I said.

“Don’t forget to charge us extra.” He said and I laughed.

“You’d never pay.” I said.

“Exactly.” He said and Jace kissed my forehead before we headed outside.

The drive to Lawson Customs was short, but I found myself thinking about the announcement from the night before.

Official Iron Vipers partner business. The words still felt strange. Good strange.

I pulled into the parking lot just after seven, and Mia was already unlocking the front door.

“You’re early.” I said.

“So are you.” She said.

“I had coffee.” I said.

“That explains it.” She said.

She laughed and opened the door and Ben was already inside the workshop, checking the equipment.

“Morning.” Ben said.

“Morning.” I said as he looked around.

“We’ve got six appointments before lunch.” He said and I smiled.

“That’s good.” I said.

“Seven.” Mia corrected him.

“Someone called while you were parking.” she added and I stared at her.

Seven?” I asked and she nodded.

“Seven.” She said se laughed.

The morning became busy almost immediately. The first customer arrived with a motorcycle that needed a brake replacement, and another arrived with an engine problem.

A third customer needed a complete service. I moved from one bike to another while Mia handled the paperwork, and Ben worked through the repairs that required more time.
