Jace’s POV

The clubhouse had been quiet for less than an hour when Ethan came through the doors with his laptop tucked under one arm and a look on his face that immediately told me something had gone wrong.

I was sitting at the dining table with Mason and Derek, while Paige had gone home after spending most of the afternoon at Lawson Customs, and the three of us had been going over security arrangements around

Charles’s house.

Ethan dropped into the chair across from me.

“We have another problem.” Ethan said as Derek leaned forward.

“What kind?” Derek asked.

“Money.” Ethan said and I frowned.

“Explain.” I said.

Ethan opened his laptop and turned the screen toward us.

“Someone accessed one of the business accounts again.” Ethan said and I stared at the figures.

“How much?” I asked.

“Not enough to trigger an automatic fraud alert, but enough that I noticed it because the transaction pattern doesn’t match normal business activity.” Ethan said as Mason pulled his chair closer.

“Which company?” Mason asked.

“One of the legitimate businesses connected to the club.” Ethan said.

That made the room noticeably quieter.

The Iron Vipers had several legitimate businesses, and we had worked hard to keep those operations separate from everything else surrounding the club. The money was accounted for, the employees were legitimate, and the businesses paid their taxes and bills like anyone else.

Someone had managed to get inside one of those accounts anyway.

“When did it happen?” I asked.

“Last night. While we were at the bonfire?” Derek said.

“Yes.” Ethan said and I looked at Derek.

“Did anyone leave early?” I asked.

“Not that I noticed.” Derek said as Ethan shook his head.

“This doesn’t look like someone physically accessing a computer at the clubhouse.” Ethan said.

“Then huw?” I asked.

don’t know yet.” Ethan said as he tapped several numbers on the keyboard.

“The transfer was made through a legítimate access channel, but whoever did it knew exactly what they were doing.” Ethan added as Mason frowned.

“Could it be Charlotte?” Mason asked.

“No.” Ethan said.

Ethan answered so quickly that we all looked at him.

“I checked everything I could compare against the previous incidents, and there is no connection between this account activity and Charlotte.” Ethan said.

“How sure are you?” I asked.

“Very.” Ethan said as he turned the laptop around again.

“Charlotte’s access was limited, and the information she had wouldn’t have allowed someone to move money from this account. Besides, the timing doesn’t fit.” Ethan said as I leaned back.

“Then someone else is inside our business.” I said.

“That is what I’m thinking.” He said as Derek folded his arms.

“Could Victor have someone working for him?” Derek asked.

“Possibly. But this doesn’t look like the Black Reapers either.” Ethan said and I stared at the screen.
