Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 57
CHAPTER 35-1
The past few days had been unusually busy and although Lawson Customs had settled into a steady routine I could feel the long hours beginning to catch up with me.
By early Friday afternoon every motorbike scheduled for the day had been finished and the workshop had been cleaned while Mia had already organized the following week’s appointments with the kind of frightening efficiency that made me wonder if she secretly enjoyed spreadsheets, more than people. Which she probably did.
I wiped my hands on a clean shop towel before looking around the garage with quiet satisfaction. Every toolbox was closed, every service bay was empty and for once, nothing was waiting for me.
Ben looked up from sweeping the last corner of the workshop.
“So…are we pretending another customer is going to appear?” Ben asked and I checked the clock.
“It doesn’t look promising.” I said.
“I was hoping you’d say that.” He said and I smiled.
“You’ve earned an early finish.” I said.
“Seriously?” He asked raising his eyebrows.
“You’ve worked hard all week and besides, if another customer shows up five minutes before closing, I’m hiding behind the air compressor.” I said.
“I’ll tell them you retired.” He said.
“Then them I became a professional beach bum.” I said.
“You’ve last three days.” He said.
“I’d last until something with an engine broke.” I said and Ben laughed.
“That’s more believable.” He said as Mia stepped out of the office carrying a folder.
“I’ve already finished tomorrow’s paperwork.” She said and I stared at her.
“It isn’t even tomorrow yet.” I said.
“I like being prepared.” She said.
“I think you might actually scare calendars.” I said.
“I’ve heard worse.” She said.

CHAPTER 35 1
I shook my head with a smile before locking the day’s paperwork inside the office.
“Alright. Everyone out.” I said and Ben looked around dramatically.
“She’s kicking us onto the street.” Ben said.
“I’m giving you your weekend back.” I said.
“That sounds much nicer.” Ben said.

Within fifteen minutes the workshop had fallen silent and the large roller door rumbled shut, the lights clicked off one by one and I locked the front entrance before slipping the keys into my pocket which felt a little strange.
Only a few months ago I would’ve worried about losing business by closing early and now I understood something Uncle Will had tried to teach me years before.
A business could consume every hour you were willing to give it.
Sometimes the smartest decision was knowing when to walk away for the day.
I barely climbed into my truck when the familiar rumble of a Harley echoed down the street. It was
Jace.
He rolled into the parking lot, removed his helmet and smiled.
“You look finished.” He said.
“I actually am.” I said.
“I was hoping you might be.” He said as I leaned against the truck.
“You planned this.” I said.
“I had no idea.” He said.
“Dangerous.” I said.
“It happens occasionally.” He said and I narrowed my eyes playfully.
“Should I be concerned?” I asked.
“Only if you don’t like riding.” He said.
“I’ve never complained before.” I said.
“I noticed.” He said.
I locked the truck again before walking around his motorbike.
