Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 66
CHAPTER 39-2
ye been told that once or twice.” I said.
“Today?” He asked.
“So far.” I said.
The tension eased slightly, although neither of us forgot why we were having the conversation.
When we walked back into the workshop, Ben looked between us.
“Everything alright?” Ben asked and I answered before Jace could.
“Apparently I’m supposed to avoid doing anything reckless.” I said and Ben looked thoughtful.
“Does climbing onto motorcycles count?” Ben asked.
“I didn’t ask for examples.” I said.
The workshop filled with quiet laughter, and for a few minutes everything felt normal again.
Across town, inside an abandoned warehouse on the edge of an industrial estate, Victor Kane
stood over a scarred wooden table covered with photographs.
Most of them showed Lawson Customs. Several showed the clubhouse. The rest showed Paige
Lawson. She was unlocking the garage, talking with customers, loading parts into her truck and laughing beside Jace.
Victor picked up one photograph in particular. It showed Jace looking at Paige with an expression
that was impossible to fake. Loyalty, respect and affection.
Victor had spent enough years around outlaw clubs to recognize the look immediately. One of his
men stepped beside the table.
“You’ve been studying those all morning.” The man said but Victor didn’t look up.
“I’ve been studying him.” Victor said.
“The president?” The man asked and Victor nodded.
“Every leader has something.” Victor said.
“What do you mean?” The man asked.
“A weakness.” Victor answered and he tapped the photograph lightly with one finger.
“Money doesn’t move him.” Victor said.

“No.” The man said.
Territory doesn’t scare him.” Victor said.
“No.” The man said.
“He’ll fight for either.” Victor said and the man frowned.
“So what changes his decisions?” The man asked before Victor finally looked up.

“People. More specifically…Her.” Victor said as his gaze returned to the photograph and he slid
Paige’s photograph to the center of the table.
The room fell quiet and one of the older Black Reapers folded his arms.
“You think she’s that important?” He asked.
“I don’t think. I know.” Victor said as his voice remained calm and then he gathered several photographs into a neat stack.
“Since she came into his life, he’s changed patrol schedules. He assigns more men around the
clubhouse. He personally checks on the garage. A smart president protects valuable assets.”
Victor said as he looked around the room and the older biker nodded slowly.
“So she’s his greatest weakness.” The man said making Victor smile for the first time that day.
“Exactly. I don’t want her hurt. I want her taken.” Victor said but the smile disappeared almost as
quickly as it came and the room became noticeably quieter.
Several men exchanged brief glances before Victor continued.
“Fast, clean, no unnecessary violence. If everything goes according to plan, she’ll become the
leverage that forces Jace to make mistakes.” Victor said as he placed both hands on the table and
one of the men spoke carefully.
“And if the club resists?” The man asked causing Victor’s expression to hardened.
“They will. That’s why timing matters. Start preparing.” Victor said as he picked up his leather
gloves and he looked toward the warehouse door.
The men dispersed without another question. And Victor remained alone for several moments,
staring at the final photograph of Paige standing outside Lawson Customs with grease on her
cheek and a smile on her face.
“You have no idea.” He murmured quietly.
Back at the garage, the day passed without another incident. Customers came and went and Ben finished every repair on schedule. Mia locked the office after balancing the day’s accounts.
