Time was running late, and Nicole could smell the food wafting down from upstairs

Clearly, the other team had already started cooking.

She felt another wave of tears coming, feeling totally put upon.

But with the live stream still on, she couldn’t break down or just quit

So she just started washing the veggies.

Washing the veggies was easy, and since there weren’t many ingredients to begin with, she finished up in no time

Then she started chopping.

After finishing the tofu, Nicole moved on to the cured pork.

Not only were her slices way too thick, but halfway through, she accidentally cut her finger.

She couldn’t help but yelp, “Ah!”

She quickly tossed the knife onto the cutting board and bolted out of the kitchen.

Just then, Nicole spotted Caleb and the other two as they walked back in from outside.

Tears burst out as she showed them her hand, sobbing, “I cut my finger, and it’s bleeding!”

Caleb and the others had no words.

‘Come on, it’s just a little scratch, and she’s making such a big deal out of it, they thought.

Suddenly, they all felt utterly drained.

The other Nicolas’s eyes went wide. “What kind of nasty idea is that? No way I’m doing something that gross.

“If you’re so eager, you do it yourself! Aren’t you the one who’s always had a thing for Nicole? Now’s your chance to prove it,” he shot back.

Jett shot back, totally unfazed, “But Nicole likes you, so you’re the one who should do it.”

Nicolas shook his head. “Nope, you do it instead.”

“You do it!”

“You do it!”

Neither of them wanted to take responsibility, just kept passing the buck.

Nicole’s face darkened. ‘What’s their deal?’ she thought.

If they both say they like me, shouldn’t they be jumping at the chance to help? Why are they both trying to shove it off on each other?’ she wondered.

She remembered what Jett had said earlier, so she kept quiet and didn’t reach out to Nicolas.

She decided to give him the cold shoulder and see how he’d react.

She turned to Caleb. “Hey Caleb, you-”

Caleb had been watching the whole mess unfold, but the moment Nicole called his name, he got nervous, afraid she’d ask him to do that nasty blood thing.

That was way too gross for him.

So he cut her off before she could finish. “I’ll go ask the production team for a band-aid.”

Plus, she’d been so distracted by feeling sorry for herself that she didn’t even notice how salty it was.

Caleb and the other two were speechless. She actually forgot something that obvious?

Wasn’t she supposed to be some kind of cooking pro? Seriously?’ they grumbled inwardly.

Then the three of them helped themselves to the cabbage and tofu soup.

It was fine-nothing wrong with it, but honestly, just plain boiled veggies. Nothing to write home about.

Jett pulled out his phone and tuned into the other team’s livestream.

He saw Alicia’s eyes light up at Hannah, couldn’t stop raving about how tasty everything was.

She looked like she was loving every bite.

The other two guys joined in, hyping Hannah up too.

Hannah was all smiles, clearly loving the attention.

Jett made a face. “Now this is what real food looks like.

“Watching them eat is just making me hungrier.”

Hearing Jett say that, Caleb and Nicolas ended up checking out the other team’s stream themselves.

Watching it just made them even hungrier.

Both of them knew Alicia well.

She was a total foodie-whenever she tasted something good, her face would just light up with happiness.

And she was never shy about showering praise.

Meanwhile, all they had were two sad little dishes-and one was a total disaster, nobody could even eat it.

But the other team had a full spread: four dishes and a soup, two meat and two veggie, and the variety was impressive. Everything looked way more appetizing than theirs.

The three guys just looked dead inside, powered through their bowls of rice, then set them down with a sigh.

After that, they mumbled something about getting some fresh air and slipped out to the yard to escape.

That left Nicole, already feeling down, stuck with cleaning up the kitchen just because the production team told her to.

Nicole was totally fed up.

Seriously, how am I supposed to wash dishes and clean up with my hand hurt like this?’ she complained to herself.

Back when she got teamed up with those three, she’d been so pleased with herself.

Now, though, she just thought they were all the worst-seriously, such assholes.

The more she dwelled on it, the more upset she got, until she just couldn’t hold back her tears anymore.

Too bad those three had already bailed-no one was there to comfort her.

That realization hit her with a weird, uneasy feeling she couldn’t even explain.

Tears had always been her secret weapon.

If her tears stopped working, she’d be totally screwed. ‘Then what?’ she thought, feeling completely lost.
