Chapter 114

Chapter 114

Jason picked up on Alicia’s confusion.

He said, “I’ve been suspicious too. I’ve already got people keeping an eye on them and looking into it.

“But even if there’s someone pulling the strings behind the scenes, they haven’t had any direct contact with Nicole and Mavis.

“We need to dig deeper.”

Alicia nodded. “Go ahead. I won’t be able to relax until we get to the bottom of this.”

In her last life, Alicia was in a car on an overpass when, out of nowhere, the whole bridge collapsed-and that was how she died.

She’d been overseas at the time, so she never suspected a thing. To her, it was just an accident, nothing more.

But now, the more Alicia thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. ‘Something’s off. I must’ve missed something crucial, she told herself.

She kept replaying the scene in her head, unable to let it go, searching for the missing piece.

After a while, Ian called Alicia.

“Ally, one of the big clients we’re trying to win over is having some health issues.

“He stumbled across a video of you treating someone, and now he wants to know if you could check him out.

“He’s already seen specialists and tried conventional treatments-but nothing’s worked for him so far.”

Once he saw her video and heard she’d inherited her granddad’s skills, he got in touch with her right away.

Alicia thought for a moment before asking, “Is Collin trying to win over this client too?”

Ian replied, “Yeah.

“Jason and I recently decided to team up on a smart nursing robot project.

“Delaney Group is working on their own nursing robot too, so they’re probably aiming for the same thing.

“Oh, and we’re planning to use the nursing robots we develop in that eco wellness project. Delaney Group are probably planning the same.

“I heard that client reached out to Collin too. He’ll probably reach out to you soon.”

Alicia instantly realized this was the same client Collin had asked her to help connect with her granddad for treatment.

“Just send me the basics about his condition,” Alicia said.

“I’ve invested in the eco wellness project too, so you know I’m rooting for us,” she added.

Jan chuckled. “Alright, I’ll send it over right now.”

‘So Alicia’s clearly not planning to help Collin out, lan thought, picking up on her stance.

‘She’s so straightforward about who she likes and dislikes-just like her mom. I really like that, Ian mused.

After reading through the client’s details, Alicia knew exactly what she needed to do.

She didn’t reply right away. Instead, she got up and looked through the local specialties the villagers had gifted her.

She remembered there was a bag of wild mountain tea-handpicked and roasted by the villagers.

Just as she remembered, it was right there.

She brewed two cups, took a slow sip from one, letting the taste linger on her tongue.

Then she pulled up the client’s file again, scanning through it one more time.

With the other cup in hand, she headed back to Jason’s room.

She asked Jason, “Is that big client you’re trying to win over still involved in international trade?”

Jason replied, “He started out in international trade and made his fortune there. After that, he got into high-tech and smart industries and did really well.

“But he’s still got his foot in the international trade game.”

He asked, “What’s up?”

Alicia replied, “I think I’ve come up with a way to help Greenpeak Village thrive. I’ll go check it out and make sure it works

tomorrow.

“Of course, that’s only if I can actually cure that big client.”

Jason smiled. “I trust your skills.”

Alicia handed Jason the cup. “Give it a try and tell me what you think.”

Jason blew on it and took a sip. “The aroma’s rich, it’s refreshing and mellow, with a nice fragrance and a sweet aftertaste. This is really good.

“If they perfected the roasting process a bit more, this tea could totally compete with those famous premium teas.”

Alicia smiled. “You really know your tea, huh?”

Jason said, “My grandpa’s a huge tea fan, so I picked up the habit from him.

“After I went abroad, he’d always have someone send me tea on a regular basis.

“Are you thinking about exporting this wild mountain tea?”

Alicia nodded. “Yeah, but I want to go up the mountain myself tomorrow and talk to the village leaders to check things out.”

Jason thought for a moment, then said, “If you can cure him, getting him to help export this wild mountain tea won’t be a problem at all.

“His condition has gotten so bad, he can’t even board a flight home anymore.”

Alicia nodded. “Yeah, I understand.”

By the time everyone in their group had finished eating, Nicole finally came out of her room.

Her eyes were swollen and red, with makeup caked on thick to try and hide it.

It was clear she’d spent the night crying and barely got any sleep-she looked completely drained.

In the past, if Nicole showed up looking this pale and worn out, Nicolas and Caleb would’ve been the first to check on her. worried sick.

But now, the two of them just sat in their chairs, not even bothering to get up, acting like they hadn’t seen her.

Jett, on the other hand, made a point of going over.

“Hey, Nicole, finally decided to join us?” Jett called out.

He grinned, “So, does this mean you’re making breakfast now? We’re starving over here!”

Nicole was totally speechless.

Is he for real? Does he really think I’m just here to cook for him?’ she thought.

She’d been anxious all night, her nerves still shot from what Jason said yesterday.

She barely got any sleep, and her stomach was in knots-the thought of cooking just made her feel worse.

Dragging herself over, looking totally exhausted, she muttered, “I’m really not feeling well today. Pretty sure I’ve got a fever.

“So I can’t cook. You guys are on your own for breakfast.”

She’d even doused herself with cold water twice last night, all on purpose.

Even though it was hot during the day, the mountain got pretty chilly at night.

Sure enough, when she woke up this morning, she felt groggy, like she was coming down with a fever.

She’d gotten herself sick on purpose, just so she wouldn’t have to do the livestream today.

And if their team lost, she wouldn’t have to do another round of Truth or Dare.

If she wasn’t still plotting to trap Nicolas and make him hers for good, she would’ve just faked being sick and quit the show right then and there.

Honestly, if it weren’t for that, she would’ve used her “illness” as an excuse to drop out of the rest of this variety show today. She was starting to realize that signing up for this show was honestly one of the dumbest moves she’d ever made.

Not only did she expose her real connection with Alicia before the time was right, but she also lost a bunch of fans and her popularity with viewers took a nosedive.

Worst of all, Nicolas, Caleb, and Nicolas all had a problem with her now.

Talk about a bad trade-off. She’d lost way more than she’d gained.
