Yanet had never been around someone like him before.
Growing up in the Sloan household, the strict rule had always been absolute silence at the dinner table. She hesitated for a moment before asking, "Is Yula going to be living here full-time? Like, 24/7?"
Barrett raised an eyebrow. Raising his voice slightly, he called out toward the kitchen, "Yula, from now on, you are forbidden from coming upstairs after 8 PM."
Before Yanet could even attempt to explain that she wasn't trying to kick Yula out, Barrett added smoothly, "I don't want an older woman walking in on something she shouldn't see."
Yanet choked on her almond milk. "You can't just say things like that to an elder!"
Watching her face finally light up with genuine emotion, Barrett rested his chin on his hand and smirked. "I just assumed you were planning to jump my bones 24/7. I'm just clearing the crime scene so you have the perfect opportunity."
Yanet forced herself to swallow her milk. "Rest assured, the odds of that happening are extremely low."
From the kitchen, Yula laughed warmly. "Understood, sir!"
Yanet frantically tried to do damage control. "Yula, he's just joking! Please don't listen to him."
Barrett shot her a lazy, knowing smile. There was a dangerous, bad-boy charm to it that was impossible to ignore.
Yanet quickly buried her face in her breakfast bowl.
Just as they finished eating, the front door opened. A man in a sharp business suit and glasses walked in. "Mr. Jamieson, the car is waiting out front."
Barrett wiped his mouth. "This is my executive assistant. You can just call him Finn."
Finn Vance turned to Yanet respectfully. "Good morning, Mrs. Jamieson."
As Barrett's right-hand man, Finn had thoroughly memorized Yanet's entire background file ages ago.
Though it was an arranged marriage between two powerful families, the news hadn't been leaked to the press yet, and the exact details of the wedding ceremony were still up in the air pending orders from the top.
Yanet was still struggling to accept her new title as a wife, far slower to adapt than Barrett had been. She offered Finn a polite smile. "Nice to meet you, Finn."
"Do you need a ride to work?" Barrett asked.
