Chapter 161 How Could She Know?
After giving them her instructions, Margaret changed into a simple dress and headed out.

She could still hear the three girls chatting and introducing themselves with bright smiles as she walked
away.
Lisa said cheerfully, “I’m Lisa Davis. Just call me Lisa. This is Julie Blair. You can call her Julie.”
Their voices faded into the distance as Margaret walked on until she reached the grand dining hall once again.
Everyone sat quietly at the table for the evening meal.
Only Stella kept her head hung low, wearing a pitiful, sorrowful look.
Timothy asked in a flat, unreadable tone, “I heard Prince Theodore took you to the palace today.”
Margaret nodded briefly and pulled out a chair to sit down.
Jasper arrived right after her.
The moment Margaret sat down, he picked up a chicken wing and placed it on her plate. “It’s been far too long since our whole family sat down to eat together peacefully.”
Margaret frowned at once, her appetite vanishing completely.
Timothy glanced up at her. “It seems Prince Theodore holds you in quite high regard.”
He already stood up for me at the estate last time.
There’s no need to ask such an obvious question.
Margaret wanted to snap back at him, yet she kept her tone calm and composed. “Prince Theodore cares greatly about his reputation. He only pays me some attention now because I work for him.”
Timothy nodded slowly. “Gaining Prince Theodore’s favor is a fine thing. Keep working hard, and if he
can…
He trailed off and narrowed his eyes meaningfully. “Never mind. First, find a way to shed all that extra weight of yours,”
Margaret understood his hidden intent perfectly well.
Stella is soon to marry Crown Prince Christopher.
Both of us are his daughters.
If one becomes Crown Princess and the other a Princess in the future, he, as Prime Minister, would stand second only to the king, above every other noble in the realm.
He truly dares to dream big.

Even I would never dare to imagine such a thing.
Margaret said nothing in reply, and Timothy went back to eating his meal in silence.
Jasper kept stealing glances at Margaret. He felt a twinge of disappointment when she made no move to eat the food he’d given her.
He said quietly, as if talking directly to Timothy, “Margaret has lost a lot of weight lately. Her hands look much slimmer now.”
Timothy did not even bother to lift his eyes.
Stella’s mouth twitched with quiet irritation.
At every family meal before, all the attention was always on me.
What makes Margaret so special now?
She’s even losing weight, too.
My face still hasn’t fully healed, so how dare she slim down?
I haven’t even told anyone that Crown Prince Christopher can only take me as his Royal Consort.
Meanwhile. Margaret has already curried favor with Prince Theodore–what right does she have to rise above me?
Just as her bitter thoughts lingered, a plate of marchpane tartlets was set down directly in front of Margaret, placed deliberately for her to eat.
Jasper tried to ease the awkward silence. “We have marchpane tartlet, too, Margaret. This is your favorite, isn’t it? Go on, have a taste first.”
He personally picked up a piece and set it on her plate.
Stella fixed her gaze firmly on Margaret, waiting for her to take a bite.
To Jasper’s utter surprise, Margaret picked up the tartlet piece and set it onto Stella’s plate instead.
Margaret said calmly, “You have it, Stella. I no longer eat sweets these days.”
Stella’s eyes flickered with unease. “Margaret, Jasper gave this to you. You should eat it yourself. I don’t care for sweet treats.”
Jasper added in confusion, “You’re the only one in the household who loves sweets, and marchpane tartlets most of all. Why won’t you have it today?”
Margaret asked with a faint, knowing smile, “Everyone knows I love marchpane tartlet–so was this plate specially prepared just for me?”
Stella grew flustered for no reason and said quickly, “Margaret, I truly prepared this for you myself. I’ve thought long and hard about all that happened between us, and I admit I was in the wrong. Jasper’s words have stayed with me. We’re blood sisters, and we shouldn’t scheme against each other. Let us put all our
