Rejected by the Crown Prince? | Married His Uncle
Chapter 88 Recognition and Justice
Firushed
The magistrate’s face flushed crimson. “Preposterous! And what of all these common folk lying on the ground? Are they conspirators as well? These are your own kin and neighbors–how could you betray them so?”
Growing agitated. he pointed toward the distant road. “Those two are no heroes, my lord—they are murderers! Stop that carriage at once!”
The carriage, however, had already drawn to a halt up ahead. Two soldiers sent to intercept it now stood before the horses, blocking its path.
Seeing this, the magistrate allowed himself a thin, smug curl of the lip. “Not only have they slain countless innocent villagers, but they also had the audacity to impersonate His Highness Prince Theodore. One even claimed to be the daughter of the Prime Minister. Their crimes are beyond pardon.”
The women kneeling in the dust exchanged uneasy glances, yet they continued to bow their heads to the ground, unwilling to yield.
Julie crept forward on her knees until she reached the hooves of the commander’s steed.
“My lord, I beg you, believe me! This magistrate is a wicked man! Those two saved our lives–they are not criminals! Please, do not listen to him—”
“Silence! How dare you slander me in the light of day? Have you a death wish?”
Enraged, the magistrate strode forward and aimed a kick at Julie,
But before his boot could connect, the rider dismounted swiftly.
It was Cyan. He drew his sword in one fluid motion and levelled it at the magistrate.
“Enough. Both of you. You grate on my ears.”
His gaze dropped coldly to Julie. “We did not come here to settle your local squabbles. Hold your tongues and stand aside.”
Tears welled in Julie’s eyes as she looked up. “My lord, please… save us!”
The magistrate’s legs buckled, and he dropped to his knees. “My lord, do not be deceived! These women are in league with the criminals! Look at them–so many of their kin and fellow villagers lie dead, yet they show no grief. They are heartless! And now they defend the fugitives… clearly, they seek to mislead you, my lord!”
“You monster!”
Lisa could bear it no longer. She lunged forward, shoving the magistrate hard, then threw her arms around Cyan’s leg.
“We are not their accomplices, my lord–we are victims! If you will not believe our words, we shall prove it with our lives! Only please… let those two go. They saved us…”

Cyan’s brow furrowed in irritation. He pushed her away firmly.
Just then, from the direction of the carriage, the two soldiers suddenly fell to one knee.
“Hail, Your Highness!”
At the cry, all eyes turned.
Two figures emerged unsteadily from the carriage.
The moment Cyan saw Theodore, his eyes widened. “Prince Theodore!”
Rished
Without hesitation, he rushed forward and dropped to his knee. “Prince Theodore! We’ve found you at last!”
All around, the soldiers finally understood. One by one, they knelt.
“Hail, Prince Theodore!”
“Hail, Prince Theodore!”
Julie and the others stared, struck dumb, their eyes wide with disbelief.
Lisa turned her head slowly.
There, before her, was the nobleman who had moments ago looked down upon them all, now kneeling in the dirt at Theodore’s feet.
And there stood the young man himself–covered in grime and dried blood, yet unmistakably noble in bearing.
The brother that lady had spoken of.
Could he truly be Prince Theodore?
For a long moment, the women stood in stunned silence.
The magistrate, seeing the scene unfold, crumpled weakly to the ground. “No… it cannot be…”
How could this dishevelled, battered youth be the exalted Prince Theodore?
And why would a royal prince appear in such a remote mountain hamlet?
Not a scrap of fine cloth remained on him; were it not for the handsome, dignified lines of his face, he might have been mistaken for a common beggar.
“It’s not possible…” the magistrate muttered, eyes glazed with shock.
