Chapter 57
Rivercaught hold of me. “You can’t.”
Vaughn let out a low growl, and Knox and Anson placed themselves between me and Vaughn.
“Stop it. He saved me and now he’s hurting, we need to help.” I tried to push forward, but Riverheld firm.
“Riveris right,” Caspian said, so much pain in his voice. “You can’t go to him now.”
“Why not?”
Vaughn pawed the ground, snarling.
Caspian didn’t take his eyes off his brother. “He goes feral. He’s barely holding on right now.” Caspian took a few steps forward, lowering himself so that he was eye to eye with Vaughn. There seemed to be a silent conversation between the two. Vaughn let out a low whine and then took off into the woods.
“But he’s hurt. He needs medical attention.”
Riverpulled me into his arms. “He’ll be fine. We heal fast in our wolf forms. But he needs to run off the feral edge. Otherwise,
he’ll never be able to shift back.”
My head swam, not just with the hit I’d taken, but everything I’d seen in the past fifteen minutes. The wolves in front of me were just like the ones in my dream. It wasn’t possible. Was I losing my mind?
“Ro?” Riverasked gently as he tipped my head up.
“W–what’s happening?”
He cupped my face with his hands. “I know it’s a lot. This wasn’t how we wanted to tell you.”
“Y–you’re a wolf? A werewolf?”
The corner of Lucas‘ mouth twitched. “We prefer the term shifter. We aren’t beKnox to a full moon like in werewolf lore. We can bring on the change any time we’d like.”
I looked around, my gaze catching on the golden wolf and the salt–and–pepper one. They kept their distance but were on alert, gazes switching from me to the forest, and back again. “All of you are shifters?” I squeaked.
Lucas‘ gaze locked with mine. “We are. And you are too.”
I hadn’t said another word. Not when Riverhad asked if I was okay. Not when he and Caspian had led me out of the woods to Anson’s SUV. Not when Knox and Anson had reappeared fully dressed in different clothes, as if they hadn’t gone furry thirty minutes before.
“You can drive, man,” Anson said to Riveras he climbed in the back seat. There wasn’t the slightest bit of hesitation as he pulled me into his lap. He pressed his nose to the crook of my neck, inhaling deeply. “You scared the hell out of me. Please

don’t ever do that again.”
I relaxed into his hold. As crazy and confusing as the past hour had been, it didn’t change the fact that the only place I truly felt safe was when I was with one of these guys
Knox got into the seat next to Anson and me, while Caspian took shotgun. “Can we go to your place?” Knox asked.
Anson nodded. “Maxi is off this week because she’s visiting her sister. No one will be there.”
“Good.” Knox’s gaze swept over me. “Are you okay?”
I nodded against Anson’s shoulder.
Knox reached out a hand, as if he was going to brush it over my cheek, and then stopped himself, dropping it to his side. Ever since that run–in with Jaz at the barbeque, things had been awkward between us. It was the last thing I wanted. It wasn’t Knox’s fault that he had a history with her. She’d been a friend to him when he’d needed it, and it wasn’t fair of me to punish
him for that.
I reached and took his hand, linking our fingers together. “Thank you for coming.”
The deep blue of his eyes seemed to glow. “We’ll always come for you, Senna.”
My throat burned at his words. “Don’t make a promise you can’t keep.”
His hand spasmed in mine, but his gaze didn’t waver. “There is a lot we’ll have to go through. I won’t lie to you and say it’ll be easy. But we will always be there for you. You never have to doubt that.”
Caspian turned in his seat, his hand finding my knee. “He’s right, Ro. You’re stuck with us now.”
Riverchuckled as he caught my eye in the rearview mirror. “Hope you don’t mind five tagalongs.”
I had a million questions and didn’t know where to start
Anson nuzzled my neck, sending sparks across my skin. “We’ll answer everything. Let’s just get back to my place first.”
