Separate Weddings, Separate Lives novel Chapter 22

The Holten family had planned a traditional wedding, and coincidentally, it was exactly the kind of wedding Louisa always wanted.

"We also prepared a bridal outfit for you. Would you like to try it on?" Elijah asked gently.

By now, Louisa understood that this wedding shouldn't have happened in the first place. Yet Elijah and the entire Holten family had put a lot of effort into the preparations. From the venue to the wedding photos, even the custom-made bridal gown created just for her, everything proved how much thought had gone into it.

Elijah led her upstairs. Along the way, they ran into a delicate-looking young lady who appeared to be 17 or 18 at most.

"Elijah." The young lady was calling Elijah, but her gaze never left Louisa. Her delicate eyes were clear and refined, though at the corners lingered a faint reddish tint, as if she had been crying not long ago.

Elijah had a younger sister, the heiress of the Holten family. Everyone knew of her, though Louisa had never met her before. This young lady could only be her.

"Where are you going?" Elijah asked gently.

"I wanted to check on Mom and Dad," Mandy Holten replied, still staring at Louisa.

"Maybe later. Could you help Louisa with her bridal gown?" Elijah said.

As he looked at Louisa, his eyes softened. "This is Mandy, my youngest sister."

Louisa nodded and took the initiative to speak. "Hi Mandy, I'm Louisa."

Mandy said nothing. Elijah reached out and rubbed her head. "Louisa's talking to you."

Mandy lowered her head but still didn't say a word.

"She's a little shy," Elijah explained to Louisa.

Louisa understood. To her, the Holten members were strangers, just as she was to them.
