Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1005

This scene should have belonged to their family of three, but Joy was... A deep chill settled in his eyes. He firmly believed that no matter how difficult it was to find evidence, he would eventually uncover the truth, avenge their child, and make the culprit pay the price. After Liz played with Ron for a while, Cedric arrived. He brought over a lot of baby supplies and placed them on the living room sofa. Liz stood up and said, "Perfect timing. Cedric, could you please give me a ride back?" Liz reached for her purse as she spoke, but Cedric didn't dare to agree. He immediately looked at Remington, who shot him a cold glare. Cedric quickly pointed outside and said, "But Mrs. Dashiell, it looks like the weather is turning. It's about to rain..." Liz glanced outside as well. The night was exceptionally dark, and the shadows of the swaying trees cast on the floor-to-ceiling windows looked somewhat bleak and menacing. However... Liz raised an eyebrow. "It doesn't look like it's going to pour right this second. Are you afraid of driving in the rain, Cedric? If so, I can be the driver." Liz still didn't want to stay at Oakridge Heights. Although she had accidentally fallen asleep here during the day and rested in the master bedroom for a long time, the night was a different story. Moreover, Liz felt that her relationship with Remington was progressing far too quickly. She had no intention of getting back together with him so easily. Cedric, however, looked troubled. "It's not about that. Driving is fine, it's just... I have a blind date scheduled, and I'm about to be late. Mrs. Dashiell, you see, I'm not getting any younger, and I really can't delay this any longer. The work pressure over the past six months has been immense, and my hairline is receding to the top of my head. If I don't find a girl to marry soon, I... I'm afraid I'll be a bachelor for the rest of my life. And I'm quite satisfied with the girl I'm meeting this time..." Cedric babbled on, vigorously sweeping his hair back as he spoke. Liz honestly couldn't spot any issues with his thick hairline, but she felt that if Cedric continued pleading with that miserable look on his face, she would truly be committing a heinous crime by delaying his major life event. Feeling a headache coming on, Liz nodded. "Alright then, I won't bother you. I..." Before she could finish, Cedric said, "Got it!" and vanished out the door like a gust of wind. Still holding her purse, Liz looked at Remington. Remington walked over to the sofa and picked up Ron, holding a baby bottle in his other hand. Looking every bit the part of a stay-at-home dad, it was obvious he wasn't going to drive her back either. Just as Liz was considering whether to call the Madden family's driver to pick her up, or simply grab a set of keys and drive one of Remington's cars back, she heard the man say, "I wonder if there will be thunder later..." Liz immediately abandoned the idea of driving back herself. She was afraid that if a thunderstorm hit halfway, she would lose control of her emotions alone in the car. That left calling a driver as her only option. Just as she was about to rummage for her phone, Remington added, "Besides, Liz, I really don't know how to take care of a child. If you leave, I won't be able to keep Ron at Oakridge Heights tonight. Why don't we just take him back to the West family together, and then I'll drop you off at Maple Cottage." With that, Remington held Ron and stood up, reaching for the child's blanket as if getting ready to pack him up and send him away. As if understanding what was happening, Ron's little red lips puckered, and he started wailing loudly. While crying, the baby reached out toward Liz, asking for a hug and comfort. Seeing this broke Liz's heart, and she instinctively stepped forward to take Ron into her arms. A conflicted look crossed her face. Stella West was probably still at the police station, and with Anna gone, the West family wouldn't be able to find a nanny on such short notice. It would also take time for Remington to arrange for someone. Furthermore, Liz was very worried that after Stella West's humiliating experience today, she might take her anger out on Ron when she got home, just like Anna did. She didn't dare think too deeply about these possibilities. Just the thought of them made it impossible for her to agree. Seeing that Remington had already gathered Ron's blanket and other items, Liz gritted her teeth and tossed her purse back onto the sofa. "Alright, I'm not leaving," she said in a tone of resignation. "I'll stay tonight to help take care of Ron."
