By the time Lizetta and Remington arrived, Anna was already sitting on a bench by the roadside, cradling Ron in her arms and anxiously waiting.
Worried that the West family might suspect something, Grace—the housekeeper who’d just contacted Lizetta and Remington—had quickly made up an excuse and rushed back to the Wests’ mansion to ask for help.
Remington pulled the Maybach up to the curb. Lizetta, unable to contain her worry, reached for the door to get out.
But as she yanked off her seatbelt, Remington leaned over and pressed her back with a firm hand.
“Take it easy,” he murmured in a low voice, his breath warm against her ear.
Lizetta clenched her fists and forced herself to hold back.
She knew Anna was loyal to Stella, and if Stella found out how much she cared about this child, it wouldn’t do any good. Besides, it hadn’t been easy for Remington to plant someone inside the West family. If she acted too concerned, Stella would suspect something immediately.
After Lizetta composed herself, Remington finally lowered the window on her side.
Anna, waiting on the bench, looked up naturally, her face tinged with anxiety.
“What happened?” Remington asked, his brow furrowed.
Anna recognized him instantly and startled, her panic obvious. Remington’s reputation for caring about this child wasn’t lost on her. Worried she might be blamed, she instinctively pulled her coat tighter, trying to shield Ron from view.
But Remington’s sharp gaze had already locked onto her. His tone was icy and direct.
“What’s wrong with the boy?”
Anna realized she’d been caught and had no choice but to stand up, still holding Ron.
“Mr. Ron suddenly took a turn for the worse,” she stammered. “He just threw up, and now he’s asleep…”
She took a few steps toward them, but Lizetta’s eyes were fixed on Ron—and she couldn’t hold back any longer.
“He’s not sleeping!” Lizetta exclaimed. “He’s clearly fainted!”
She flung open the car door, rushed over, and gently but swiftly took Ron from Anna’s arms. Clutching the limp child to her chest, she hurried back to the car, her voice trembling.
Anna shook her head. “Probably just a coincidence—he must’ve been passing by. Where’s Miss Stella?” She peered into the car, searching for any sign of Stella. But it was clear—Stella hadn’t come.
“Miss Stella told us to take Ron to the hospital as soon as possible. She said she had a headache and needed to rest—didn’t want to be disturbed.”
Grace clenched her jaw angrily. Even now, when something had happened to the child…
She’d gone to knock on Stella’s door for instructions, but Stella had taken ages to answer. When she finally did, it was only to berate Grace for bothering her over such a “trivial matter,” and slam the door in her face, telling them to just take the boy to the hospital and not to disturb her again.
Anna let out a long sigh of relief. She’d been worried Stella would blame her for not taking proper care of Ron, but clearly, Stella couldn’t care less about the child.
That was a relief.
“So Ron’s been taken already. What do we do now? Shouldn’t we go after them?” Grace asked, reaching for the car door.
Anna paused to think.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
