Lillian Quincy was so busy, Quinn wondered if she would even look at the portfolio she had handed to her assistant.
All the way home, Quinn worried about it, her mood sinking lower by the minute.
Sitting beside her, Lydia thought she was upset over Dante and couldn't help but say, "That Vivienne Ambrose is a total homewrecker, always clinging to Mr. Hayes. But I can tell Mr. Hayes still cares about you, ma'am. Don't let that woman get to you."
Approaching a red light, Raymond hit the brakes, his eyes flicking to the rearview mirror to catch a glimpse of Quinn.
Quinn frowned. "Lydia, Leo is right here. Let's not talk about this in front of him."
Lydia hadn't noticed how Leo's eyes had dimmed, but as a mother, Quinn caught it instantly.
Her heart ached as she pulled him into a hug. "Be good. Mommy and Daddy both love you, Leo! Don't overthink it."
Raymond pressed his lips into a thin line and looked away.
Just then, a text pinged on his phone.
He glanced down. It was from his assistant, Caleb Jenkins.
[Boss, you told me not to contact you, but how should we arrange the upcoming executive management meeting?]
[If I have time, I'll join via video call tonight. If not, you handle it.]
Raymond typed out a quick reply.
Caleb: ...
A moment later, another message popped up, dripping with despair.
[Are you serious, Boss? Me?!]
The light turned green, and Raymond ignored Caleb, stepping on the gas to quickly arrive at Clearview Road.
To help Leo interact more with other children, Quinn had enrolled him in a cognitive reading class on the second floor of a building on Clearview Road.
It was already noon, so they grabbed a quick bite at a nearby diner before Quinn took her son to class.
Leo listened intently to the teacher, but he still struggled to communicate with anyone else.
She added, "Besides, there's a chance he might pose a threat to me and my son in the future. It wouldn't hurt for you to get a close read on him now."
Raymond nodded in agreement.
Mabel was preparing dinner. They had only eaten a quick lunch, so naturally, they needed a proper meal at home.
Quinn asked Raymond, "What do you like to eat? Any allergies or dietary restrictions?"
Raymond shook his head. "I eat anything."
Having been sent abroad by the Moretti family at the age of ten, he had survived on stale bread for weeks at a time. He wasn't a picky eater and had no restrictions.
Quinn nodded, thinking this man was certainly low-maintenance.
Leaving it at that, she instructed the kitchen to prepare garlic butter shrimp, BBQ ribs, hearty beef stew, pan-seared sea bass, and roasted asparagus—all her and her son's favorites.
Raymond glanced around. The Hayes villa was luxurious and high-end, but it completely lacked the presence of a man actually living there.
