The assistant turned to get back into the car.
Quinn immediately held out her design portfolio and her past award certificates. "Please, just make sure Ms. Quincy sees these."
The assistant took the folder, gave a curt nod, and slipped into the vehicle.
The sleek black sedan slowly pulled away from the curb.
Quinn watched the taillights disappear into the distance, letting out a soft sigh, a flicker of disappointment crossing her eyes.
When she turned around, she saw Lydia, Leo, and Raymond standing right behind her.
Lydia, the actual nanny, had essentially been rendered useless because her son was currently in Raymond's arms.
The little boy was clinging to him like a koala, his chubby arms wrapped securely around Raymond's neck.
Looking at Raymond's sharply defined jawline and remembering how she had clung to his arm just moments ago—pressing herself right up against him—Quinn felt her cheeks heat up.
"About earlier... I'm sorry. I was put on the spot, so I used you to play along..."
Raymond turned his head slightly, his gaze piercing through his dark lenses to look at her.
"Remember to double the bonus."
Quinn was left speechless.
Was this guy entirely obsessed with money?
Raymond carried Leo off to retrieve the car, with Lydia trailing closely behind.
Quinn stood alone by the curb when suddenly, a black Maybach pulled up smoothly right in front of her.
The window rolled down, and Dante turned his head from the driver's seat, his voice laced with frost.
"Get in."
The rear window rolled down as well, revealing Vivienne's bright, youthful smile.
"Quinn, let's all go back together. Once Dante drops me off, you two can head home."
"No thanks."
Dante's eyes narrowed sharply. "Tell Mabel to make my dinner. I'll be home after work."
With that, he hit the gas and drove off.
Shortly after, Raymond pulled their car up to the curb.
"Ray, drop us off at Clearview Road."
Raymond caught her eye in the rearview mirror. "You're awfully polite when you're giving orders now, huh?"
"Okay, Dante. Don't work too hard. And thank you again for today."
Vivienne remained as sweet and compliant as always, stepping out of the car and waving goodbye with a bright smile.
After dropping Vivienne off, the assistant hurried up to the office to report to Dante.
"Mr. Hayes, we managed to dig up a trace of that person."
Dante stood with his back to the assistant, a cup of coffee in his hand, his eyes dark and unfathomable.
"A few days ago, he visited Elder Moretti at the hospital. You were actually at the hospital that exact same day," the assistant explained, habitually observing Dante's reaction.
"I was there too?" Dante raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, sir. It was the day Vivienne injured her arm, and you took her in to get it treated."
That day, after Vivienne was bandaged up, he had gone upstairs to the VIP ward to visit his grandfather. Which meant... he and that man had crossed paths?
"And then?" Dante set his coffee down, asking coldly, "Did you track his movements over the last few days?"
"No, sir. Every five-star hotel and luxury complex in Riverton shows absolutely no record of him checking in." The assistant couldn't help but sigh inwardly. "It's like he vanished into thin air again."
Dante narrowed his eyes, staring out the window. The cold glare of the sun reflecting off the glass of the opposite building mirrored the chill in his eyes.
Why did he suddenly feel like someone was watching him from the shadows?
