After a grueling half-night of torment, Dante was finally about to fall asleep in his hospital bed when Vivienne arrived.
She sprinted into the room, her face a perfect portrait of frantic worry.
"Dante! How did your stomach get this bad? I rushed over the second I got Quinn's message!"
She hurried to the side of the bed. "How do you feel? Does it still hurt anywhere?"
Dante's assistant stood off to the side, eyeing Vivienne coldly.
She was clutching a designer handbag, her makeup completely flawless, and she was even reeking of expensive rose perfume.
A few years ago, when Mr. Hayes had suffered from this same stomach condition, his wife had stayed glued to his bedside in the hospital without leaving for a second.
The Mrs. Hayes of back then had never once cared about putting on a full face of makeup for a hospital vigil.
Thinking of this, the assistant spoke up, "Ms. Ambrose, I can handle taking care of him."
"Absolutely not," Vivienne countered. "You're a man. There's no way you'll be as meticulous as I am in caring for him."
She then grabbed a towel, intending to wipe Dante's face.
"This must be because you've been overworking yourself and skipping meals again. And honestly, I don't know what Quinn is thinking. You're in this condition, and she doesn't even bother to show up? Don't worry, I'll stay with you all night."
Hearing her mention Quinn, Dante raised a hand to block the towel.
"It's late. You should go home."
Vivienne pouted in protest. "No way. I'm going to sleep on the cot right here. If you need anything, just call me."
Dante's eyes were utterly unreadable, though his voice was mild. "There's nothing else I need. I just want to get some sleep."
The assistant quickly stepped in. "Ms. Ambrose, let me walk you out."
"Fine..." Vivienne stood up reluctantly. "I'll come back and check on you tomorrow."

Early the next morning.
Quinn's gaze landed squarely on Vivienne's raised right wrist. Tied around it was a silk scarf, knotted into a perfectly delicate bow.
She remembered now. For years, Vivienne had always worn a silk scarf around that wrist.
Dante had bought many of them for her, a fact Vivienne had relentlessly flaunted in front of Quinn.
Every scarf was perfectly color-coordinated with her outfit for the day, looking like an elegant fashion choice.
In the past, Quinn had assumed it was just her unique sense of style, but suddenly, a chilling realization hit her—
Was it really just a coincidence?
She looked down at the luxury watch on her own wrist. She had custom-designed the inner band herself—a diamond-encrusted butterfly body in the center with delicate, translucent wings spreading outward.
It perfectly concealed the vicious scar hidden underneath.
Could it be that on the inside of her right wrist, Vivienne was hiding the exact same scar?
