Quinn understood immediately.

From start to finish, Dante simply couldn't bear to let a single hair on Vivienne's head be harmed.

Quinn let out a soft, mocking laugh. "Enough, Dante. I want to rest."

She stood up, but the moment she turned around, Dante forcefully pulled her into a tight embrace from behind, his voice dropping into a husky whisper.

"Stop acting up. I'll handle everything, and I promise you, nothing like this will ever happen again."

"I'm not acting up, Dante—" Quinn struggled to break free. "Let me go."

"No."

Not only did he refuse to let go, but he forcefully spun her around to face him.

Perhaps it was the alcohol, but his eyes were suddenly dark with predatory hunger.

"It's been a long time since we've been together..."

Dante's warm breath, laced with the scent of fine liquor, brushed against her cheek and ear, radiating an undeniable, possessive heat.

He leaned in, aggressively trying to claim her lips.

Knowing she couldn't match his physical strength, Quinn shoved her hands against his solid chest, her eyes blazing with rejection.

"Quinn, we are husband and wife."

Dante just let out a cold laugh, gripping her waist and forcing her body flush against his, his drunken grip so tight it felt like he was going to crush her bones.

The terror of tonight's accident had already left Quinn severely rattled, her chest tight with lingering panic.

Now, violently pinned against him, the sudden, overwhelming pressure crushed her lungs, making it impossible to breathe.

A terrifying suffocation instantly seized her body. Her severe, chronic asthma triggered right on the spot.

Her face drained of all color, her lips turned blue, and she began trembling violently as her breaths turned into horrific, rattling wheezes.

Glaring at him with raw hatred, she forced out her last breath. "Get out."

"Get the hell out right now!"

With a loud slam of the bedroom door, Dante strode out, never once looking back.

Perhaps triggered by the massive emotional spike, Quinn's asthma attack surged back far worse than ever before.

There wasn't enough medicine left in the inhaler to subdue the deadly symptoms.

Suffocation swallowed her like a tidal wave. It felt as if a massive boulder was crushing her chest, every frantic gasp tearing at her lungs with fatal agony.

Quinn collapsed onto the cold hardwood floor, her breathing shallowing into nothing as her consciousness sank into absolute darkness.

Right at the very edge of oblivion, the bedroom door was violently kicked open.

"Quinn!"
