She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 103

But now, Daphne was saying it was all a joke.

Dominic felt like he was being played for a fool.

The night was quiet outside the Eclipse Noir Club.

Melanie and Dominic stood at the entrance.

“You and that boy toy… you really didn't go to a hotel?”

This was the thirteenth time Dominic had asked that question tonight.

“Dominic, if you don't believe me, then stop asking. Just assume we went to a hotel, all right?”

Melanie said firmly, then turned and started to walk away.

Dominic immediately chased after her.

“I'm sorry, Melanie… I was just… I was just worried about you.”

With her back to him, Melanie’s lips curled into a cold smile.

Was Dominic really concerned about her?

No. He was concerned about the benefits her father brought to the Hale Group.

“Look, I know you were upset after Dad lectured you today, so I bought you a gift.”

Dominic handed the scarf to Melanie.

Melanie accepted it but couldn't help a sarcastic remark. “And you have no idea why my dad lectured me in the first place, right?”

Dominic opened his mouth to argue.

It was true that his parents were the ones who brought up Melanie taking a companion to Le Marcelline in front of Nathaniel, but Melanie was the one who had done it.

If you don't want anyone to know, don't do it. That's what people say.

Dominic didn't think his parents were at fault.

“Let's not talk about that. Why don't you see if you like the gift I got you?”

Seeing Dominic change the subject, Melanie didn't press the issue and simply opened the packaging.

She unwrapped it carefully, in a way that could easily be put back together.

“It's a scarf…”

“So, do you like it?”

“I love it.”

Hearing Melanie’s unhesitating reply, Dominic breathed a sigh of relief.

Compared to any other beautiful woman he had ever seen, she was on a completely different level.

If Evelyn hadn't saved him, if he hadn't fallen in love with Evelyn first, he might have actually developed feelings for Melanie.

Even if it didn't reach the level of love, he would have at least been willing to sleep with her.

He reached out toward Melanie’s nearby face, but his fingertips retreated before they could touch her cheek.

Melanie’s smile was captivating, but for some reason, Dominic felt her eyes on him were as sharp as knives.

They walked to the car together, and Melanie, maintaining her smile, said to Dominic,

“You should probably go home tonight. I have to go to the office and work late.”

Dominic was taken aback.

“You're going to the Hale Health Center?”

“That's right,” Melanie nodded. “The Hale Group went bankrupt thanks to Evelyn, didn't it?”

Seeing Dominic's features twist in pain, Melanie flicked her hair back.

Rubbing salt in the jerk's wound felt amazing.

“Now, the Hale Health Center is the only company you have left. And while your dad is the legal owner, you've always been the one running it. As your wife, I can't let this last remaining asset be ruined too, can I?”
