Everett didn't dwell on it.
And Daphne didn't bring it up again.
As fate would have it, Everett ran into Jonas at a restaurant a few days later.
The last time they met, Everett had listened to Jonas vent endlessly about the miserable realities of his love life and marriage.
This time, Jonas spotted him first, grabbed his plate, and slid right into the booth across from him.
"Hey, speaking of last time, you weren't annoyed by all my rambling, were you?"
"...No." Everett shook his head.
"Well, since we're clearly destined to keep running into each other like this, how about we talk about you today?"
"Me? There's nothing to talk about," Everett replied with an awkward chuckle.
"Your girlfriend, obviously. So, are you planning to tie the knot?"
Seeing the gossipy gleam in Jonas's eyes, Everett frowned.
Marriage again.
Everett felt like he was developing a genuine aversion to the word.
"I... haven't really thought about marriage..." Everett answered truthfully.
Jonas's eyes widened in horror.
"Man, whatever you do, do not say that to your girlfriend, or you're definitely getting dumped."
Everett looked down.
He didn't believe he was playing with Daphne's feelings.
He wasn't that kind of guy.
He was just... still trying to build a foundation with her.
Marriage was miles away.
Noticing Everett's prolonged silence, Jonas stared at him curiously.
"Seriously, Everett, you're not getting any younger. Is your girlfriend a lot younger than you or something?"
Daphne's face naturally floated into Everett's mind. He shook his head.
