It wouldn't be good for Preston's reputation.
"Alright, alright, Dominic, don't be impulsive. I'll go back with you."
After saying this to Dominic, Melanie turned and gave Preston a look, signaling him not to stoop to Dominic's level.
However…
The light in Preston's eyes dimmed. His dark gaze reflected Melanie's retreating figure, and his impossibly handsome face grew cold enough to freeze the river.
Melanie went down from the Riverside Bridge with Dominic.
All the way back, he talked her ear off.
"Stay away from that boy toy from now on. I didn't care before we were married, but you're a married woman now. You actually ran off with another man in front of all those clients. What will people think?"
Melanie shrugged and smiled.
"And you? Holding hands with Evelyn in front of those same clients? I guess you didn't care what people thought then."
Dominic opened his mouth but was left speechless.
Although being shut down by Melanie was frustrating, he finally understood why she had so readily left with that boy toy. She was trying to make him jealous!
Dominic couldn't help but smile.
He had been furious and embarrassed, but now that the misunderstanding was cleared up, he suddenly found this slightly scheming version of Melanie rather cute.
"Evelyn is just my sister…"
Dominic walked beside Melanie, his face sincere.
"You're my wife. How can we celebrate this launch without the woman of the hour by my side?"
"The woman of the hour…"
Melanie murmured the title, sneering inwardly.
"But right now at the Hale Health Center... I’m nothing more than a file clerk. I didn't even have the right to stand next to you for the photos."
Seeing Melanie lower her head in disappointment, Dominic had a sudden realization.
"So that's why you were standing in the back row?"
