Seeing Daphne's utter shock, Sam rubbed the back of his neck.
"What's wrong? You don't want to?"
"I..."
Daphne choked on her words.
How was she supposed to answer that?
Did she want to hook up with him?
Absolutely not.
But she had just agreed to be his girlfriend. To a guy like him, taking the next step probably felt entirely expected.
But...
Her heart hammered in panic.
She always believed intimacy was supposed to happen naturally.
They needed time to date, to actually learn about each other before crossing that line.
Suddenly, her mind flashed to Everett.
She remembered her first time with him.
They hadn't spent much time dating before falling into bed together.
The memory only made her feel more frantic.
Was her reluctance just a sign that she was still hung up on Everett and didn't actually like Sam?
Daphne nervously looked up at him.
He was watching her, his desire blatantly obvious.
He wanted her.
"Daphne, what's the deal?" Sam asked, utterly bewildered.
"I like you, so it's normal that I want to sleep with you. You like me too, right?"
"I..."
Daphne hesitated.
She thought she liked him.
After all, he was her idol.
But the version she liked was the athletic superstar, drenched in sweat and dominating the basketball court.
