Evelyn’s simple sentence was enough to make Dominic, Fiona, and Vincent all turn their gazes to Melanie.
Melanie was still holding the baguette, and compared to the pitiful-looking Evelyn, she certainly appeared more aggressive.
Under normal circumstances, Dominic might not have immediately suspected Melanie.
After all, they had been married for four years, and he trusted her character.
However, today was different.
Evelyn’s attire tonight created a stark contrast with Melanie's.
Women were naturally prone to jealousy.
Especially rivals in love.
Although Melanie didn't know about his relationship with Evelyn, she wasn't unaware of how much he had doted on his adopted sister since they were young.
Now that Evelyn and Lila had moved here, it was inevitable that there would be some rivalry between them.
Even if they weren't love rivals, no woman liked to be outshone by another.
Therefore, Melanie certainly had a motive to push Evelyn over tonight to vent her frustration.
Dominic stared at Melanie.
The small amount of pity he had felt for her due to Fiona’s difficult behavior at the meeting was now completely overwhelmed by a profound sense of disappointment.
“Melanie…”
He was about to ask her for an explanation, but before he could finish, Fiona cut him off.
“How dare you! Do you have any idea who this lady is? You can’t just go around bumping into people.”
While Fiona was losing her temper at Melanie, Vincent was busy apologizing to the lady Evelyn had bumped into.
Melanie felt that the woman looked somewhat familiar.
“She’s the head of Aureon Therapeutics, a real powerhouse.”
Hearing Fiona mention Aureon Therapeutics, Melanie suddenly understood why both Fiona and Vincent were so nervous around this woman.
Suddenly, the woman Vincent had been fussing over walked past him and approached them.
Melanie came face-to-face with her, but still couldn't recall where they had met.
Harper Ellington saw the look on Melanie’s face and knew she didn’t remember her.
“I’m sorry, ma’am. You look familiar, but I really can’t remember where we’ve met.”
After Melanie spoke, Harper Ellington didn't seem offended at all. In fact, the smile on her face grew even warmer.
“Don’t worry about it… I didn’t introduce myself at the time… Do you remember we had dinner together at the Marquette Grand Hall in the ‘Little Louvre’ gallery?”
With Harper Ellington’s reminder, it all came back to Melanie.
No wonder she looked so familiar.
But there had been many people at the dinner in the Marquette Grand Hall that day, all of them wealthy and influential.
Melanie hadn’t been there for networking, and since she didn’t even understand why Gabriel had invited her in the first place, her eyes had been fixed on the delicious food on the table, paying little attention to the guests around her.
