She Left, She Thrived, She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 13

Hearing Dominic's excuse, Camilla became even more agitated. The two of them began to argue heatedly about the issue of children right there at the dinner table.

Melanie couldn't be bothered to listen. She pulled out her phone to play a game, but before she could open the app, a message notification popped up.

It was from Preston.

[What are you doing?]

The question was posed as if they were old friends, familiar with each other.

In reality, they had just met that afternoon.

Melanie didn’t overthink it and replied honestly:

[I’m at dinner, but there's nothing I can eat.]

She quickly received a reply from Preston:

[What do you want to eat?]

Melanie couldn’t help but smile.

The way Preston asked made it seem like if she named something, he would actually get it for her.

[I want the Spicy Supreme Seafood Platter from Blaze Ember Kitchen.]

After she sent the message, Preston didn't reply.

Melanie didn't think much of it and opened her game to start playing.

Across the room, Camilla and Dominic were still arguing.

Before they could finish, the doorbell suddenly rang.

“Who is it?”

Camilla grumbled and looked at Melanie.

“What are you waiting for? Go get the door!”

Melanie had no choice but to get up and open it.

For the past four years, it was typical for her mother-in-law to order her around.

“Excuse me, are you Ms. Melanie Royce?”

The delivery driver at the door asked for her by name.

“I am.”

“This is a delivery for you from a Mr. Whitmore. Please sign here.”

Melanie was stunned.

She only knew one Mr. Whitmore.
