Melanie tilted her head up to look at Gabriel, who was standing before her.
Under the glare of the spotlight, Gabriel's eyes sparkled.
He grinned at Melanie, revealing a set of bright white teeth.
"Ms. Royce, this is for you."
Melanie was dumbfounded when Gabriel presented her with the gilded Certificate of Ownership.
Beside her, Dominic, Evelyn, and Gavin were all stunned.
Gavin froze, the sheer absurdity of the situation hitting him like a physical blow.
If he wasn't mistaken, the certificate in Mr. Whitmore's hand...
Was worth a billion dollars, right?
As Gavin reeled from the shock, he couldn't help but think:
Why couldn't it be me?
Evelyn's large eyes darted back and forth.
She looked at Melanie, then at Gabriel, and finally at Dominic.
Dominic's face was grim.
It was the clear displeasure of a man watching someone else try to claim what was his.
Evelyn rolled her eyes, fuming.
Melanie was Mrs. Hale in name only, without any of the substance of a real marriage. How could Dominic be so possessive of her?
When Melanie stood up, Dominic hurriedly said,
"You can't accept that!"
Melanie glanced at Dominic.
She hadn't intended to accept it.
A piece of equipment worth a billion dollars, given to her by Gabriel in front of everyone—it was hard not to read into it.
After all, her relationship with Gabriel wasn't nearly that close.
"Thank you, Mr. Whitmore."
Turning her head back to the coolly composed Gabriel, Melanie smiled sweetly.
"It would be rude of me to refuse."
She reached out and took the certificate.
