This shouldn't be happening...
Melanie couldn't figure it out for the life of her.
Was there something wrong with the drug Emilia used, or was Preston's constitution just that unique?
"How about this, Preston? If you have time tomorrow, I'll take you to the hospital for a check-up. What do you think?"
"Okay."
Preston agreed immediately.
"So... how are you feeling now?"
Melanie asked nervously.
"Much better. Thank you. I'm lucky to have you here."
Being thanked so sincerely by Preston, Melanie could only manage a tight, awkward smile.
Surely his side effect couldn't only be cured by kissing her, right?
Seeing how awkward Melanie was, Preston didn't press the issue.
"Well... you should get some rest. Goodnight."
With that, Preston returned to his guest room.
Melanie closed the master bedroom door and took a deep breath, her chest a tangled mess of emotions.

The next day, Melanie took Preston to the hospital.
They took Preston's car, with Melanie in the passenger seat.
She had chosen a top-tier hospital not too far from Rosevale Heights.
They ran blood tests and did both internal and external examinations. All the indicators were fine, but the doctor mentioned that while such a condition was rare, it wasn't unheard of.
"It might be a unique constitution. As long as it doesn't affect others, it should be fine. If it becomes necessary, just discuss it with your girlfriend!"
After saying this to Preston, the doctor gave Melanie a meaningful look.
Melanie knew the doctor had mistaken her for Preston's girlfriend.
It seemed that living under the same roof with Preston would no longer be as relaxed and safe as before.
As they left the hospital, Melanie's mind was heavy with thoughts.
"Melanie..."
"Hmm?"
Preston pulled Melanie's attention back to him.
"I'll take responsibility for curing this side effect of yours."
"Okay. Just kissing me is enough."
Melanie was at a loss for words.
"As long as I can kiss you... I'll feel better."
After saying this calmly, Preston got into the car.
Melanie stood frozen in place, blinking.
By "curing" him... she didn't mean kissing him whenever he was overcome with desire!
She felt like Preston had completely misunderstood her, but for a moment, she didn't know where to even begin to explain.
In the end, by the time Preston dropped her off at the Hale Health Center, she still hadn't managed to correct his misunderstanding.
Her mind was a tangled mess of knots she couldn't undo. Melanie rubbed her temples as she walked into the office.
The employees in the office saw her and immediately started whispering among themselves.
Melanie noticed their strange looks but didn't know why.
Until she opened her office door.
It was filled with baby supplies.
