“Melanie, you’ve gone too far! A grown woman bullying a child!”
Evelyn was about to escalate the situation, but Bryant interjected before Melanie could respond.
“You’re the one who’s gone too far, aren’t you? I know Lila is your daughter, but Elina is my daughter too. Just as you believe what Lila says, I believe what Elina says. Besides, Melanie just asked Lila a simple question, and you’re already trying to pin every crime on her. What are you trying to accomplish?!”
Confronted by Bryant, Evelyn was left speechless.
Wasn’t she the one Bryant had a crush on back in school? Why was he attacking her like this for Melanie?
Evelyn felt a surge of resentment.
She had noticed Bryant’s interest in Melanie right away, but she had dismissed it as a fleeting novelty.
In her mind, Bryant had only gotten Melanie into the Project NovaGate team—making her a consultant and the person in charge of the brand ambassador—because he had already slept with her and enjoyed it.
But she was the one he had never had, the object of his schoolboy crush. By all rights, Bryant should be tired of Melanie by now. As for her, shouldn’t she be his idealized first love?
While Evelyn was lost in her resentful thoughts, Melanie was also surprised that Bryant had stepped in to defend her against Evelyn.
“Thank you, Bryant.”
Melanie’s eyes met his. Bryant’s eyes were incredibly bright, especially when their gazes locked.
Watching Melanie and Bryant look at each other, Dominic felt a knot of disgust in his stomach. It was as if they were exchanging flirtatious glances right in front of him.
