She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 275

Her intuition told her that this sliver of strangeness was not just her being overly sensitive.

After forcing Lila to finish the grapefruit juice, Evelyn started eating her own food, and everything seemed normal.

People came and went in the restaurant, and glasses of grapefruit juice were taken from the buffet table one by one.

“Mo… Mommy… Mommy…”

Suddenly, Lila let out a faint cry for help.

“I… I feel… so sick… My heart is racing… Mommy… help me…”

Lila’s voice was already choked with tears. Her face was flushed, her eyes were rolling back, and her body was swaying unsteadily.

“Lila, Lila, what’s wrong? Where does it hurt?” Evelyn asked anxiously.

She was genuinely nervous. Although she knew better than anyone what was happening to Lila, it was the first time she had mixed Nifedipine tablets into grapefruit juice, and she wasn’t sure if she had gotten the dosage right.

While everyone’s attention was focused on Lila, all of them confused, Melanie’s sharp voice cut through.

“Everyone, get back!”

Melanie rushed to Lila’s side, laid her flat on the sofa seat, and elevated her legs.

“Call 911 immediately! Have a waiter find the infirmary and get some emergency meds to stabilize her blood pressure. Hurry!”

Melanie’s decisive commands left Dominic fumbling, but Bryant immediately understood the problem.

He glanced at the empty grapefruit juice glass Lila had drunk from and instantly grasped what Melanie meant.

“What on earth is happening?” Dominic asked, his hands trembling as he dialed 911, worried sick about Lila’s condition. But there was nothing he could do to help.

“She’s about to be killed by her aunt!” Evelyn snapped back.

Bryant, having lost all patience, shouted, “Melanie is saving Lila! Forcing her to drink a high-concentration sugar solution can stabilize her blood pressure!”

Even with Bryant’s clear explanation, Evelyn sneered.

“Her, saving Lila? I think she’s the one who harmed Lila in the first place!”

As she spoke, Evelyn snatched Melanie’s handbag from the chair and dumped its entire contents onto the floor.

With a crash, everything spilled out. A small white medicine bottle rolled over to Dominic’s feet. He bent down, picked it up, and read the black letters printed on the label: Nifedipine Extended-Release Tablets.

His face went rigid. He looked at Melanie, his wide eyes filled with utter disbelief.

At that moment, Evelyn’s voice, seething with hatred, hissed in his ear: “I knew it… Did you think pretending to save Lila would clear your name? Now we have the evidence and the culprit. Let’s see you try to deny it this time!”
