Melanie opened the fridge, only to find there was no alcohol inside.
Only lychee-flavored soda.
Her mouth twitched. She had no choice but to take out two bottles of soda.
"This? Or should I order some beer?"
"This is fine," Preston replied. Then he heard Melanie ask casually,
"Are you afraid things might get out of hand if we drink?"
Seeing the mischievous glint in Melanie's bright eyes, Preston stared into them for a long moment.
Suddenly, he took a step forward.
The distance between them closed instantly. Melanie froze, and just as she was about to instinctively step back, Preston's arm wrapped around her waist.
"If you're not afraid…"
Preston's magnetic voice whispered by her ear, his hot breath fanning across her face, making her cheeks burn.
"Then I'm not afraid either."
Melanie pushed Preston away and turned her face to the side.
Her face must be bright red right now.
She could certainly feel it burning like she had a fever.
"Then let's just drink soda. Don't blame me if you get diabetes."
Preston chuckled at Melanie's remark.
The two of them sat on the living room sofa, sipping lychee soda and admiring the magnificent meteor shower overhead.
"Is this a projection? It's pretty realistic."
"It's a new technology from Stellaris PharmaTech."
As Preston spoke, his eyes flickered to the side, stealing a glance at Melanie.
"How did your talk with Bryant go tonight?"
"I had a major breakthrough."
Melanie didn't look at Preston, her gaze fixed on the spectacular meteor shower on the ceiling.
The conversation between them paused for a moment.
The atmosphere in the living room remained romantic.
Melanie had said just enough, and Preston didn't press further.
