“How did you know…?”
Leonard was in disbelief, exchanging a stunned look with Samuel.
Dominic and Evelyn were also shocked.
Melanie just smiled without saying a word.
How did she know? Elias, of course.
“The only way to keep a secret is to not do it in the first place… As they say, you reap what you sow. Mr. Crowell, Mr. Vaughan, I remember you two are quite superstitious, aren’t you? Aren’t you afraid your immoral behavior will bring retribution upon your companies and cause the businesses you rely on to go bankrupt?”
Melanie spoke with relish, but Leonard and Samuel listened with a growing sense of dread.
Before either could retort, Melanie continued, this time addressing Dominic.
“Thank goodness my husband isn’t like them, cheating and having illegitimate children… Otherwise, what goes around, comes around. No one escapes karma's judgment. It’s only a matter of time.”
As Melanie spoke with conviction, she watched Dominic nod along with a smile. But his smile was stiff, and his eyes desperately tried to hide his guilt.
Melanie sneered inwardly.
Evelyn, listening on the side, also felt uneasy. She felt like Melanie was taking an indirect jab at her, but she had no proof.
“Mrs. Hale, while you may be a guest at my seminar, cursing me like this is incredibly rude…” Leonard’s face fell, and he motioned for two security guards. “Please escort Mr. Hale, Mrs. Hale, and this… whoever she is, out. They are not welcome at my seminar.”
