Suddenly, a group of uniformed staff entered the restaurant, carrying an astonishingly large bouquet of roses.
The tables in the center of the restaurant were cleared, and the massive arrangement, made of exactly 10,001 fresh red roses, was placed in front of Melanie.
Melanie’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Excuse me, are you Ms. Melanie Royce?” the lead staff member asked respectfully.
Melanie nodded. “I am.”
“Please sign here.”
Taking the receipt from the staff member, Melanie signed her name.
“May I ask… who sent these flowers?”
Melanie couldn’t find any clue about the sender on the giant bouquet, so she had to ask the staff.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Royce, I don’t know. My supervisor didn’t tell me.”
It was clear the man wasn't lying, and Melanie saw no reason to press him.
The bouquet of 10,001 roses sat in the middle of the revolving restaurant. It was obvious the sender had made arrangements with the management.
Other diners in the restaurant stared at Melanie and the extravagant flowers with a mixture of envy and curiosity.
Elina craned her neck to get a better look at the bouquet.
“Daddy, those flowers are so big! Much bigger than the ones you gave her.”
It couldn’t possibly be…
Melanie took out her phone and opened her messaging app, then hesitated. If it was Preston, why wouldn’t he sign his name?
In a private room nearby, Gabriel was furtively peeking out, glancing at Melanie’s table every few moments.
His business partner, who was dining with him, was both awkward and curious but didn’t know if he should ask.
“Mr. Whitmore, is there someone out there?” the partner finally asked, unable to contain his curiosity.
“Shh…”
Gabriel, looking very mysterious, took out his phone and sent a text to Preston: [Bro, did you learn magic recently? Where did you get so many flowers in just forty minutes?]
