“How is that possible?!”
Dominic shot to his feet, but having had too much to drink, he lost his balance and fell onto the sofa with a thud.
“Of course my dad doesn’t know… If he knew…”
Wouldn’t he break his legs?
A shiver ran down Dominic’s spine.
The Hale family and the Royce family had been friends for generations.
His father had once saved Melanie’s father’s life, which was why Nathaniel had always felt indebted to the Hales.
“To the public, Lila is Everett’s child. Melanie and I are her aunt and uncle. If we adopt her, my parents won’t think much of it. They’ll just assume I want to give Lila a complete family.”
“I see…”
Gavin nodded, lost in thought.
“So… you’ve got Lila settled, but what about Evelyn? Is she going to stay in Averin?”
Dominic fell silent at Gavin’s question.
He was silent for a very, very long time.
If Evelyn remained in Averin, Melanie probably wouldn’t come home.
Even though Melanie didn't know about the intimate nature of his relationship with Evelyn, she was well aware that Evelyn, as his sister, disliked her.
If Evelyn stayed, she would most likely continue to cause chaos.
Dominic was tired.
He was truly exhausted.
Now that the Hale Health Center was finally on the right track and about to go public, he needed a peaceful family life to help his career take off.
For that, he needed Melanie.
And Evelyn continuing to stay by his side…
She would only become a stumbling block.
“I’m going to send Evelyn… back to Bresford…”
Gavin raised an eyebrow, looking at Dominic out of the corner of his eye.
It was the first time he had heard such resolve in Dominic’s voice when it came to Evelyn.
“Will she agree?”
Dominic fell silent again.
