In his office, Gabriel was reenacting Melanie’s performance at the party—throwing the divorce papers at Dominic and slapping both him and Evelyn.
“Brilliant! That was absolutely brilliant!”
Gabriel was as excited as if he had been the one to take down the cheater and his mistress.
“This is great, bro. Ms. Royce is getting a divorce, so now you can openly pursue her.”
Gabriel grew more and more excited as he spoke.
“If you ask me, you should start by giving her five houses.”
Gabriel’s suggestion made Preston’s brow furrow slightly.
“Does Melanie know how to clone herself? Why would she need five houses?”
“It’s a sign of sincerity, bro, don’t you get it?”
Looking at Preston’s indifferent expression, Gabriel felt his brother was hopelessly dense.
“When it comes to wooing women, you don’t have my experience. And my experience tells me… giving houses is the most effective thing these days.”
“Right.”
Preston looked at Gabriel, his gaze growing sharper and more serious.
“Because every time you cheat, you have to give the girl a house just to get her to drop it, don’t you?”
“Well…”
Gabriel’s mouth twitched, and he looked like he wanted to shrink into his suit.
“Anyway, the point is, you need to make your move now, bro. Otherwise, someone else will beat you to it, and then you’ll have nowhere to cry.”
That sentence successfully wiped the effortless confidence from Preston’s face.
“That Bryant guy isn’t much of a threat… but there’s still the Carter Group! I just have a feeling that Ms. Royce and Elias have a special connection.”
Gabriel rubbed the back of his neck and spoke his mind.
Though he lacked Preston’s business acumen, he had been involved in the Whitmore family’s business dealings far longer than Preston.
The one who benefited most from the Hale Group’s recent series of misfortunes was, in fact, the Carter Group, all the way in Xavorn.
But Gabriel couldn’t figure it out. How did Melanie and Elias know each other?
And what was their special relationship?
“Anyway, as the saying goes, the early bird gets the worm… Bro, trust me. Either give Ms. Royce at least five houses, or…”
At this, Gabriel suddenly leaned in close to Preston and whispered in his ear:
“…seal the deal. That would work too.”
Listening to Gabriel’s earnest advice, Preston’s deep eyes shifted slightly.
While Gabriel was plotting for Preston, Melanie was at Adrian Mercer’s lab, handling the handover.
