Melanie's mind completely short-circuited.
How did she end up letting him kiss her again?
She tried to shove him away, but his sheer strength easily overpowered her. Pinned against the seat, she was completely at his mercy as his kiss devoured her, demanding and ruthless.
He consumed her mouth like a starving man, kissing her with such intense, hungry desperation that she could barely breathe.
The temperature inside the car skyrocketed, their body heat tangling in the heavy, suffocating air.
She was pushed to the absolute edge of her sanity.
“Let... let me go... I can't breathe...”
Finally, he broke the kiss just enough to let her gasp for air.
“Are you trying to suffocate me?”
Her face was flushed crimson.
He couldn't tell if her flushed skin was from the lack of oxygen or from pure arousal, but it was the most intoxicating sight he had ever seen.
“I'm sorry...”
he murmured an apology, his thumb brushing lightly over his own split lip.
“It stopped bleeding.”
“What am I, a gauze pad?”
she snapped, shoving at his chest.
“You're too heavy. Get back in your own seat.”
Reluctantly obeying her command, he shifted his weight and settled back into the driver's seat.
He didn't immediately start the engine, nor did he say a word.
She remained silent as well, a thick, palpable awkwardness filling the space between them.
The heavy, musky aftermath of their frantic kiss lingered in the car, making her heart flutter wildly against her chest.
Her pulse was still racing, the burning heat in her cheeks refusing to fade.
He was just way too good at taking advantage of her!
Especially for a guy who usually acted so stoic and untouchable.
She stole a sideways glance at him. His sharp jawline and flawless profile looked like they had been chiseled by a master sculptor.
Even though kissing him definitely wasn't a punishment, it annoyed her that she was always the one left completely undone and breathless.
Meanwhile, he always looked completely composed and perfectly in control, both before and after he kissed her.
An undeniable surge of competitive defiance flared up inside her.
Now, he was technically a disheveled mess because of her, but the suffocating heat in the car had returned with a vengeance.
She used to think his tightly-laced, untouchable persona was seductive.
But seeing him looking this wrecked and laid bare was downright lethal.
“Don't... don't think you can seduce me just by doing that.”
she stammered defensively, her face bright red.
He didn't call her out on her bluff, but a dangerous spark of amusement glinted in his gaze.
“I know where to draw the line.”
Letting go of her hand, he settled casually back into his seat, and both of them finally clicked their seatbelts into place.
The engine roared to life, heading straight toward their shared home—
Rosevale Heights.
Sitting there without his body pressing her down, she suddenly realized how incredibly spacious the BMW's passenger seat actually was.
The silence stretching between them now was as deafening as the previous tension had been heavy.
Even with his shirt torn open, he somehow still managed to project that same frustratingly disciplined, composed aura.
And as always, he remained completely silent.
