She Left, She Thrived, She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 4

At her words, Daphne rolled her eyes dramatically.

“I think that car accident scrambled your brains.”-

Melanie didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

She wasn’t kidding.

She would do everything to help Dominic’s new company go public. And then, on the very day it launched, she would use these divorce papers—

To send him and Evelyn, that wretched pair, straight to hell!

She and Daphne talked until evening. Dark clouds had gathered outside, and the forecast called for heavy rain that night, so Melanie urged Daphne to head home before it started.

Dominic wasn’t coming to the hospital today. He’d said something came up at the company.

Melanie guessed he was probably off appeasing Evelyn.

She took out her phone and glanced at her social media feed, just in time to see a photo Dominic had posted.

It was a picture of his company’s conference room.

Melanie had a feeling Dominic had posted it specifically for her to see.

However, he hadn't noticed that the glass of the conference room reflected the faint outline of a woman.

It didn’t take a genius to figure out the woman was Evelyn.

It was even possible that Evelyn had taken the photo herself, also intending for Melanie to see it.

Melanie sneered.

While she was in the hospital recovering from a car accident, her husband was playing around in the office with his own nominal sister.

How thrilling.

Melanie pulled the divorce papers out from under her pillow.

Since Dominic had given her such a big “surprise,” it was only fair that she prepare a suitable gift in return. It was only fair, after all.

***

In her third week in the hospital, Melanie was finally discharged.

Her father sent a driver and a man named Edmund to pick her up. Dominic claimed he was swamped with work but sent a massive bouquet of hundreds of red roses to mark her discharge.

After signing for them, Melanie simply told the delivery person to take the flowers back and do whatever he wanted with them.

“Welcome home, ma’am!”

Camilla greeted Melanie at the front door, but Melanie immediately noticed that her smile seemed a bit strained.

Once she stepped inside, she understood why.

Her home had changed.

From the sofa to the chandelier, from the television to the refrigerator, nothing was the same as what she had chosen when they first married.

Seeing Melanie’s expression darken, Camilla explained nervously.

“Um… Ma’am, all of this… Ms. Evelyn had it all replaced…”

Before Camilla could finish, Melanie strode upstairs and threw open the master bedroom door.
