She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 450

The moment Marjorie finished, Frederick immediately backed her up.

"Your mother is absolutely right. How do you know this girl isn't just after the Whitmore fortune?"

He crossed his arms, his expression stern. "She got you shot today. Who knows what kind of catastrophic mess she'll drag you into tomorrow? That kind of woman has no place in the Whitmore family. Cut ties with her now, Preston, before it gets worse. Even if you don't want Elara, there are millions of women in the world. Are you seriously telling me my son can't find someone better?"

As his parents took turns desperately trying to talk sense into Preston, Gabriel was standing off to the side, sweating bullets.

*Damn that snitch Elara!* Gabriel gritted his teeth silently.

Once upon a time, Elara had actually been his fiancé—back when everyone thought he was the only heir to the Whitmore empire. When they first met, he had genuinely believed she was a sweet, innocent, and highly educated socialite.

Thank God his brother came back. Otherwise, Gabriel would have married her and spent the rest of his life being played for a fool.

Several times, he opened his mouth, desperately wanting to defend Melanie. Nobody in the family was supposed to know Preston had been injured. Philip had buried the information perfectly, undoubtedly on Preston's orders, specifically to prevent their parents from forming a negative opinion of Melanie.

Yet, somehow, the secret had been hand-delivered to Frederick and Marjorie. It didn't take a genius to realize Elara had leaked it intentionally to sabotage his brother's relationship.

Gabriel was the first to admit he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but even he could see right through Elara's vicious scheming. How were his parents completely blind to it? Instead, they were just blindly piling all the blame on Melanie.

What was he supposed to do? Gabriel scratched the back of his head, checking his watch every five seconds.

*If the tension gets any worse, they're going to start throwing punches! Who do I help if a fight breaks out?*

He tilted his head, immediately realizing it was a stupid question. *Duh. I'm backing my brother.*

"So, let me get this straight," Preston said smoothly. "You are making sweeping judgments about a woman you have never even laid eyes on. You've unilaterally decided she's a gold digger, a walking disaster, completely unworthy, and unfit to cross our threshold..."

The sheer logic of his counterattack left both of them completely speechless.

"When we make business decisions for the Whitmore family, we demand extensive due diligence and refuse to act on baseless assumptions," Preston continued, his tone dangerously soft. "Why are your standards for choosing your daughter-in-law so incredibly sloppy?"

"That..."

Frederick and Marjorie exchanged a helpless look, utterly unable to formulate a defense.

Standing in the corner, Gabriel's jaw practically hit the floor. His brother was a god.
