She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 458

Fuming with misplaced rage, Dominic pulled the divorce papers from his pocket and threw them violently onto the pavement right at Melanie's feet.

"I wasn't even there when this was finalized! How could they just mail the paperwork to me? As far as I'm concerned, this whole divorce is a complete sham!"

Melanie couldn't stop herself from rolling her eyes.

She genuinely hadn't expected him to stoop to this level of pathetic harassment.

"If you think the papers are fake, go check with the courthouse yourself. It's all on public record."

Having said her piece, she turned to walk away, but Dominic lunged forward, grabbing her arm in a vice-like grip.

"Honey, don't be like this. Just give me one more chance, okay? I know I messed up... But look, you and Preston were clearly hooking up way before we split, right? That means you stepped out on the marriage too. You're no different than me."

"Since we both cheated, let's just call it even. What do you say?"

"The Hale family and the Royce family go way back. My dad saved your father's life... Even if we're technically divorced right now, once you cool off in a few years, your dad is going to make you remarry me anyway."

"And as for Preston... I know he's just a fling. He's not in your league... Come on, babe. Listen to me. Let's just patch things up and go back to how it was."

The sheer, unadulterated audacity of his speech actually made Melanie laugh out of pure disbelief.

She truly had never realized just how despicable and shameless he was.

Melanie violently wrenched her arm out of his grasp, glaring daggers at him.

"I'm warning you, stay the hell away from me. I have a boyfriend!"

She turned on her heel to leave again, but Dominic suddenly grabbed her from behind, forcefully hoisting her up.

"Are you out of your mind? Put me down!"

Panic surged through her as she kicked and thrashed wildly, but he overpowered her, shoving her brutally into the back of his car.

His eyes were bloodshot and his features contorted in a terrifying display of pure madness.

It was late at night, but they were still out on a public street.

Every security camera in the area was undoubtedly capturing this.

Yet he couldn't seem to care less.

He was dead set on abducting her.

All three were hauled down to the precinct. Because Melanie's statement perfectly matched the street surveillance footage proving Dominic was the aggressor, Preston's violent intervention was legally classified as justifiable defense.

"I got beaten half to death, and you're calling it self-defense?"

Dominic yelled, his face bruised and swollen as he jabbed an accusing finger at Preston across the station.

"You want to test us?" the arresting officer shot back. "One more word and I'll tack on a charge for interfering with law enforcement."

Ignoring the warning, Dominic shot up from his chair.

Before he could fire back a retort, a furious roar echoed through the room.

"You absolute disgrace!"

It was Gregory, storming into the station with Camilla right behind him.

Once they were briefed on the situation, Camilla shot Melanie a venomous glare, which Melanie met with icy defiance.

Gregory, however, knew better than to lose his temper. He pasted on a sycophantic smile, practically begging the officers for leniency.
