She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 508

The second Preston tossed her onto the mattress, Melanie knew exactly what was about to happen.

She didn't fight back.

After all, he was her boyfriend. She liked him.

But today, he was acting completely different. He was like a starved, feral beast, radiating pure, unadulterated aggression from head to toe.

She wasn't exactly terrified, but her instincts kicked in, urging her to step back.

Preston hovered over her, his eyes burning with scorching intensity.

She stayed perfectly still, expecting his jealousy to result in something incredibly rough.

The room plunged into silence.

Neither of them spoke a word.

Melanie waited a beat. When she realized he was just pinning her there without making a single move, she couldn't help but feel confused.

"What is it? Are you really that mad?"

When their eyes met again, she saw something beyond the fierce, possessive jealousy—a heavy, unspoken wave of guilt.

"I'm sorry. Did I scare you?"

Hearing that, Melanie immediately realized he wasn't actually angry at her.

She reached up, grabbed his tie, and yanked him down.

"Yes, I'm absolutely terrified. You're going to have to kiss me, hold me, and make it up to me."

Preston froze for a second before a low chuckle escaped him.

"I actually thought you were afraid of me."

"Why would I be afraid of my own boyfriend?"

She tugged his tie again and planted a loud kiss on his cheek.

Preston's gaze immediately flared with heat again.

He had finally managed to cool down a fraction, entirely because he had seen a flicker of fear in her eyes.

He fully admitted he was jealous.

He didn't want to lock her in a cage or control her friends, but deep down, he desperately wanted every man who looked at her to vanish from the face of the earth.

He knew exactly how dangerous he was.

And his greatest fear was that she would realize it and run.

Staring down at the woman beneath him, Preston knew he could look at her face for the rest of his life and never get bored.

No matter the time or place, she was completely radiant to him.

His intense, burning gaze was making her blush furiously.

"If we're going to do this, then do it. Why are you just staring at me?"

She instantly looked away, unable to handle the heat.

When Preston looked at her like that, deep and completely devoted, she had zero defenses.

They were already dating. They had already slept together multiple times. Yet, under his unwavering stare, her heart still raced like crazy.

"Because I love looking at you."

Preston cupped her face in his hands.

The kiss started off soft and gentle.

But it didn't take long for him to deepen it, kissing her until she was completely breathless.

Their clothes quickly became the most annoying obstacles in the room, discarded so fast neither of them remembered taking them off.

The weather outside had grown chilly, but the temperature inside the room skyrocketed, leaving them both drenched in the scent of their passion.

...

After the blazing intensity finally settled, Melanie felt like every bone in her body had been completely dismantled.

"Did you really have to go that hard?" she grumbled.

Her intuition told her he was still hung up on Everett. Otherwise, he wouldn't have completely wrecked her stamina.

"If I don't give it my all, what happens if you leave me?"

He reached out, gently sweeping a messy strand of hair from her face.

"Who else would I want? Everett?"

She meant it as a total joke, a casual remark.

But Preston's expression turned terrifyingly cold in a fraction of a second.

Realizing her mistake, Melanie playfully slapped her own mouth.

"Sorry, sorry! Did I make you jealous again?"

Preston stayed silent, his brows knitted together tightly.

"Sometimes, I really just want to..."

"Want to what?"

"Bury every guy who gets close to you."

A shiver ran down her spine.

She knew he was just venting, but his dead-serious tone and intimidating aura made the joke feel uncomfortably real.

A faint trace of panic settled in her chest.

Truthfully... she realized she hardly knew him at all.

What did his parents do?

Why did he constantly wear white gloves?

He had never volunteered any of that information.

She wanted him to open up to her on his own.

In a flash, her euphoric mood dampened significantly.

Until she figured out the truth about all these things... could she really plan a future with him?

"What is it?"

Noticing her sudden shift in mood, Preston asked softly.

"Nothing..."

She offered a small smile and shook her head.

Dating a gorgeous guy like Preston—even if she was completely in the dark—was hardly a bad deal.

That's what she tried to tell herself.

But the fact that she was actually feeling insecure proved just how deeply she had fallen for him.

She unconsciously pulled the blanket higher up her chest.

Her last relationship had been an absolute trainwreck. If this one fell apart too...

She squeezed her eyes shut, forcing the chaotic thoughts away.

Preston was amazing.

He wasn't Dominic.

He wouldn't lie to her or use her.

Preston watched her face silently, knowing she was hiding something.

"Are you stressed about work?" he asked softly.

Relieved that he had given her an out, she immediately ran with it.

"Yeah, just some work stuff..."

"Is there anything I can do to help?"

"Hmm..." She thought for a second. "I was wondering... if I should reach out to Gabriel."
