She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 55

Looking at Melanie's calm, smiling face, Evelyn secretly gritted her teeth.

She didn't understand how Gregory could allow Melanie to be so reckless.

“By the way, Melanie, Evelyn…”

Dominic began, and saw Evelyn turn her gaze to him.

Melanie, however, was still looking down, playing with her phone.

Dominic frowned, feeling a sense of unease.

He wasn't sure if he was just being sensitive.

Lately, he always felt that Melanie wasn't as attentive to him as she used to be.

“Dad said he's hosting a family dinner tomorrow…”

“A family dinner?”

Evelyn was surprised.

Melanie raised an eyebrow.

“Yes, he's already chosen the place: the Aureline Grand Hall.”

“Dad's thinking is... you two have had some small misunderstandings and friction because of work lately, but at the end of the day, you're family, and you both want what's best for the company. So he said he'll host, so the family can get together.”

Hearing this, Evelyn shot Melanie a contemptuous glare.

“That is a very high-end place! So, Dominic, after work, let's have Camilla pick up Lila, and you can come with me to buy a new dress!”

Dominic grunted in agreement.

Evelyn couldn't help but feel smug.

“Melanie, you should come with us too!”

Evelyn opened her mouth, about to ask Dominic why on earth he was bringing Melanie, but then she saw the helpless look he gave her, as if to say:

“I can't just buy a dress for my sister and not for my own wife!”

Crossing her arms, Evelyn couldn't help but snort inwardly.

Melanie smiled and readily agreed, “Sure, I'll go with you.”

Originally, Dominic thought spending a few thousand dollars on a decent dress would be enough, but Evelyn started competing with Melanie.

Whichever dress Melanie picked, Evelyn had to buy a more expensive one.

And Melanie, contrary to her usual behavior, rose to the challenge and competed with Evelyn.

As a result, the price of the dresses climbed higher and higher, and in the end, Dominic spent several hundred thousand dollars on two different dresses of the same price.

Dominic had thought that after buying the dresses, Melanie would finally come home with him.

But instead, Melanie said she was going to the Eclipse Noir Club.

“I already made plans with Daphne…” As she was leaving, Melanie deliberately showed off the new dress he had bought her. “Thanks for the dress. I love it.”

With that, she stepped on the gas and drove away.

Dominic felt a wave of disgust, as if he'd swallowed a fly.

He had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on Melanie, but she still wouldn't go home with him. She was still going to Daphne's club to hang out with those hosts.

“Dominic, how is someone like Melanie even worthy of you?”
