"Melanie, I'm here to negotiate!"
Seeing Aria forced a brave front, Melanie Royce couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Her laughter only made Aria more desperate.
"Don't think you've won just because of this, Melanie! If Nathaniel finds out you've been scheming against me behind his back, do you really think he'll hand the Royce Group over to you?"
Melanie had wondered what Aria's leverage might be, but she was just using their father as a threat.
"I always knew you weren't the sharpest tool in the shed, Aria, but I never realized you were this stupid."
"You claim I schemed against you in secret, but you have zero proof. Meanwhile, the fact that you actively plotted against the Royce Group is backed by hard evidence. Who do you think he's going to believe?"
"And as for the Royce Group... it's already mine. Do I really need him to hand it over to me?"
"So, what gives you the right to stand there and demand a negotiation? Do you really think you're in any position to do so?"
Melanie's rapid-fire questioning left Aria completely speechless.
Aria's face flushed with embarrassment, then paled, panic gripping her chest.
She had marched in here convinced Melanie was the mastermind behind her ruin, hoping a confrontation would make Melanie feel guilty.
Instead, Aria was the one drowning in guilt.
"Melanie... wait. We're still sisters! My mom and Nathaniel are still married. We're still family..."
Aria's sudden submission was almost comical to Melanie.
"You really are the daughter of the other woman. When it comes to being shameless, you take the crown."
That remark completely trampled over Aria's bottom line.
Yet, she still couldn't lash out.
Right now, Aria's Creative Studio was beyond saving.
She had no choice but to beg for Melanie's help.
"I'm not asking for much... I know you've got Nathaniel locked up in the hospital, but I just want to see him. We're still family, after all. You can't possibly refuse this!"
Melanie knew Aria was full of empty excuses.
She had stationed guards at the hospital, and Preston Whitmore had voluntarily stayed behind to keep an eye on things.
But she wasn't imprisoning her father.
Instead, it was Aria's Creative Studio that burned to the ground.
Under these circumstances, there was a very real possibility that Sabrina and Aria could put on a tearful, pathetic show at the hospital, and Nathaniel might just soften his heart.
Melanie guessed that Aria was betting everything on that exact scenario.
As Aria pointed out, Sabrina and Nathaniel were still legally married. On paper, they were family.
Melanie let out a quiet sigh.
"I'm not letting you see him."
"Melanie!"
"However..."
Melanie smiled slyly.
"I'm a generous person. I wouldn't push you off a cliff."
Aria's eyes instantly lit up at those words.
"Tomorrow morning, my acquisition team will be visiting the Hale Group. You should be there too. I'll show you my utmost sincerity."
