Furious, Aria stomped her foot and pulled out her phone to order food delivery. However, the front desk downstairs intercepted it immediately.
"If you want a drink, go outside. Non-employees are strictly prohibited from consuming beverages in the office," the receptionist informed her with cold authority.
"Are you kidding me?! Since when did the Royce Group have a rule like that?" Aria yelled, her temper finally snapping.
"Right about the time you stole our company's Genesis Serum. Management added the rule immediately after."
Shut down completely, Aria opened her mouth but found herself utterly speechless.
Defeated, thirsty, and exhausted, she stood outside Melanie's office for three agonizing hours.
Finally, three hours later, the office door clicked open.
It opened from the inside.
Aria stared in disbelief as Melanie casually strolled out.
"Hm?" Melanie blinked, looking genuinely surprised to see her. "What are you doing here?"
"You! You!" Aria pointed a shaking finger at her.
"You were inside this whole time?! Your assistant told me you were out!"
The assistant calmly stepped in. "I said Ms. Royce was busy. I never said she left the building... Taking a scheduled afternoon nap counts as being busy."
Aria felt her blood pressure spike dangerously high.
She had stood in the hallway for three grueling hours while Melanie was sound asleep!
"You... you are pushing me too far!" Aria hissed, her face flushed with rage.
Melanie offered a careless shrug. "Suck it up or get the hell out. Your choice."
"You!"
Aria forced herself to swallow her fury and stormed into Melanie's office.
As the door clicked shut, the massive office suddenly felt suffocatingly quiet.
She didn't have a single shred of evidence to prove Melanie had dug this grave for her.
But if someone hadn't orchestrated this from the shadows, how did she solve the serum formula so easily? How did she crush the Royce Group so effortlessly? And how did it all fall apart so spectacularly right after...
Looking back, the entire sequence of events had been far too seamless.
She had been too intoxicated by her winning streak to see the trap closing around her.
Melanie watched Aria quietly, a mocking glint in her eyes.
Even if Aria finally realized she had been played, it was far too late.
And she would never find a single piece of evidence proving Melanie had carefully guided her down that doomed path.
"So, you stood outside my door for three hours just to ask me that?"
Knowing Melanie was openly mocking her, Aria gritted her teeth in pure, helpless rage.
