She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 598

It was said so casually, yet Frederick was taken aback, silently conceding that his son had a point.

The moment Frederick left the room, Gabriel sidled up to Preston, giving him a big thumbs-up.

"You're amazing. You managed to talk Dad down with just a few sentences?"

Preston stayed quiet.

He wasn't entirely sure how much he had actually eased his father's suspicions, but at the very least, Frederick wouldn't be as frantically worried as he was before.

"But seriously... Melanie really does seem to have a great relationship with the Carter Group. Why is that? The Royce Group and the Carter Group have never worked together before, right?"

"It's because of Elias Carter."

The moment Gabriel heard Elias's name drop from Preston's lips, he started practically bouncing off the walls in outrage.

"Damn it! Is Elias trying to hit on Melanie? Does he not know she's taken? That shameless homewrecker!"

While Gabriel was cursing Elias out, miles away at the Carter Group headquarters in Xavorn, Elias sneezed six times in a row in his office.

"Mr. Carter, are you catching a cold?"

Marcus asked with concern.

Elias waved him off, grabbing a couple of tissues to blow his nose.

"Or maybe someone is just talking trash about me behind my back."

"But isn't the saying that two sneezes mean someone is talking about you? You just sneezed six times..."

"Then that just means someone was cursing me out three times in a row!"

Marcus's mouth twitched.

Why did his boss seem almost eager to be insulted?

"Right, Mr. Carter, the guest list for the company's annual gala is ready for your review."

Marcus handed the document over.

Elias scanned it briefly.

Her original plan had been to take this chance to properly apologize to him.

After all, when exposing Gregory, she had used his father's passing and his deep love for his family to her advantage.

To her surprise, Everett was the first one to apologize.

He knew she had done it to reveal Gregory's true colors.

"You got justice for my dad and exposed the truth about what happened back then. I should be thanking you... but I gave you attitude the other day. I was acting immature, and I'm sorry."

Everett's sincere apology left Melanie feeling overwhelmed with emotion.

She really hadn't misjudged him.

She had always known he was incredibly thoughtful and considerate.

With the air cleared between them, Melanie felt a huge weight lift off her shoulders.

Just as she was about to order another slice of cake, she watched Everett pull out a delicately wrapped gift box.
