"What?"
Evelyn was utterly shocked.
"I heard she recently started her own studio and broke away. All the top luxury brands are clamoring to work with her."
"Wait a minute, just now… did she say she designed Melanie's dress?"
"So that means Melanie isn't wearing some cheap knock-off, but a custom-made gown from a legendary designer!"
Behind her, the hushed whispers of the Hale family made Evelyn's face grow even paler. She was digging her nails into her palms so hard they were about to draw blood.
Valerie shot Evelyn a disdainful glance.
"Only the nouveau riche judge clothes by their labels and logos…"
With that, she called over her assistant.
"From now on, my designs are not to be sold to this Ms. Hale. Also, inform all manufacturers that if they wish to work with me, they are no longer to do business with this Ms. Hale either."
"Hey, you can't just bully people like that!"
Evelyn yelled at Valerie, but Valerie didn't even bother to give her a second glance.
Valerie walked up to Melanie and looked her up and down.
"Mr. Whitmore certainly has impeccable taste. My design looks even better on Ms. Royce than I had imagined."
While praising Melanie, she proactively extended her hand.
"I'm the fashion designer, Valerie. I was wondering if Ms. Royce would be willing to be a model for me? Just to help me out from time to time."
Melanie shook her hand and readily agreed.
Dominic was completely dumbfounded by this point.
He couldn't understand what was happening before his eyes.
Why were a major figure from Stellaris PharmaTech and a world-class designer fawning over Melanie?
"Would Ms. Royce do me the honor of joining me at my table?"
Gabriel's invitation was direct.
"Yes, Ms. Royce. Why stay here with a bunch of philistines? The air has gone stale,"
Beatrice stood with her hands on her hips, berating Dominic.
Dominic was speechless, his eyes glaring angrily at Melanie in the Marquette Grand Hall.
Camilla was also so furious she chugged several glasses of juice, choked, and sprayed it all over Evelyn.
Evelyn, already humiliated, now had her expensive dress ruined and was seething with rage.
However, she couldn't take her anger out on her adoptive mother. With no outlet for her fury, she felt like she was about to explode.
Just then, Gregory walked over and looked down at Beatrice.
"You can't put it like that. The one who invited Melanie was Mr. Whitmore from Stellaris PharmaTech. This shows that Dominic's wife is exceptional. Ordinary people could beg for his attention, and Mr. Whitmore wouldn't even give them the time of day."
"Dad's right."
Dominic agreed verbally, but he still couldn't get over it.
Beatrice didn't dare to act out in front of Gregory, so she slinked away.
Gregory handed Dominic a glass of red wine and whispered in his ear:
