Preston drove Melanie's car, and they headed home together.
On the way, they briefly discussed Shawn. Melanie explained he was a VIP at Daphne's club who threw cash around and claimed to be bisexual.
Preston was initially on guard, but considering Shawn looked like a fresh-faced college student and acted like a spoiled playboy who liked hitting on beautiful women, he chalked it up to annoyance rather than a threat. The most memorable thing about the kid was his flashy silver hair.
Melanie didn't dwell on the incident or Shawn.
Seeing that she wasn't worried, Preston let it go. If the kid ever became a real problem, Preston would simply get rid of him.
The night passed.
Everett woke up with a splitting headache, suffering from a brutal hangover. After struggling for a moment, he pushed himself up and realized he was in a completely unfamiliar bed.
Looking around, he could tell this wasn't a hotel.
Panic set in. His mind was completely blank. He had drunk way too much and blacked out entirely.
He remembered going to The Velvet Orchid alone last night. It was the upscale club Dominic Hale used to frequent. Back in the day, when Everett was part of Dominic's social circle, he had tagged along a few times. It was the only high-end bar he knew, so when he wanted to drink his misery away, he went there.
Suddenly, the bedroom door swung open, making Everett jump.
