She Left She Thrived She’s Worth Billions novel Chapter 643

Evelyn's eyes lit up.

But only for a fraction of a second.

She was in prison now. She could no longer harbor the naive hopes she once had for him. A faint, cold sneer touched her lips as she walked over, sat down, and picked up the phone.

The thick bulletproof glass separated them, feeling like an uncrossable chasm.

Dominic picked up his phone but didn't speak immediately. The woman on the other side looked so much more haggard than he remembered, but he felt no pity for her.

He was struggling to find the right words.

"Evelyn..." Dominic started hesitantly, his eyes darting away. "Um... how have you been?"

Hearing this, Evelyn let out a harsh laugh. "Look at me. I'm in prison. Do you really think I'm doing well? If I said yes, would you even believe me?"

Knowing she was mocking him, Dominic grimaced. He hadn't asked out of genuine concern anyway. In fact, he still harbored a deep resentment toward her. If she hadn't seduced him and clung to him, he would never have cheated on his wife, Melanie would never have ruined him, and the Hale family wouldn't have been reduced to sweeping floors.

The small talk was failing miserably, so Dominic cut straight to the chase.

"Evelyn, I need to ask you something."

"When I was traveling in Belvaria and got bitten by a venomous snake... you saved me, right?"

Hearing him bring up the past, Evelyn raised her eyes slightly. "Yes."
